David, his wife Lavica, and their infant son migrated to Cumberland County, New Jersey,
before 1800. The 1800 census of Cumberland County NJ reflects them on page 015, listing one male under 10, one male 16 to 26, and one female 16 to 26.. "Removed to the west" is a comment following David's name in the book "Ogden Family in America."In a "Supplement to the 1810 Census of Virgina" (Yantis, published 1971) we find David on personal property rolls of Hardy County, VA (now West Virginia). It appears his first son must have died, and that David Lawrence Ogden was born 9/28/1807 because the family structure was given in this supplement as three white tithables.
The 1810 Census of Cumberland Co, KY (page 707) lists David with one male under 10 (David Lawrence), one male 26-45 (David himself 32 years of age), and one female 26-45 (Lavica, about 30 years of age).
David & Lavica possibly moved to Tennessee before May 2, 1816, for William Riley Ogden was born then. In the 1860 Cenus of Neosho Township, Newton Co, MO, William Riley gave his place of birth as Tennessee.
There were rumours among decendants that David seperated or deserted Lavica & his family, and married a widow Black. This apparently occurred between 1816 & 1820, for in the 1820 US Census of Smith County, TN we find Lavica Ogden, the head of a family consisting of two males under ten (Riley & Frank), one male 10 to 16 (David Lawrence), and one female 26 - 45 (Lavica about 40 YOA). Whether the separation was a case of desertion or by mutual agreement is unknown. David later married a Nancy Black.
In Deed Book D, page 302 (Cumberland Co, KY) we find David Ogden & his wife Nancy, on March 14, 1821 sold land in Salt Lick Bend to Janes Turner and wife Nancy.
Nancy BLACK died on 18 AUG 1818. She married David Lawrence OGDEN in 1816/1820.

John was a man of property, for it is recorded that on Sept 18, 1639 he disposted of his property and made arrangements for passage to America. The name of the vessel is not known, but probably landed on the southern shores of Long Island at the Southampton early in 1640. He took up residence at Southampton early in 1640, and was granted a tract of land known as Shinnecock Hill, which ajoins Southampton on the west. In 1664 he disposed of his Long Island property, and transferred his interest to New Jersey. He and other English settlers purchased a tract of land from the Indians and secured a grant from the Governor. The lands were known as the Elizabeth Town Patent. He was settled on his tract as early as August 1665.
