Himura Kenshin, or Battousai, whatever you call him, was the famous hitokiri (executor/assasin) of the time of Japanese civil war in the 1800's. Kenshin believes by killing whom he was assigned to kill would help to bring in the new era he was hoping for. No war, and equality in the westernised Japanese life. Thus after endo has been terminated to become the meiji government, Kenshin became a rurouni (wanderer). 10 years later, he came to meet up with Kaoru, Yahiko, Sanosuke, Megumi. Then because he carried the title Battousai, many other people of all sorts came to challenge him.

The main female character of this show. She was the acting master of Kamiya Dojo which was founded by this father with the aim to "save people's life with the sword". After the meeting with Kenshin, she liked him very much. And ever since then, she has never been lonley. However, she always treated Kenshin bad and hit him sometimes. But lovers always quarrel you know, just imagine, Kenshin is suppose to be a cold-blood assasin, and with his ability, how can he get beaten up by Kaoru? In addition, her cooking was really bad...poor Kenshin...>_<x. But in the end, they really do like each other.

After his battle with Kenshin, he turned to be a member of Kamiya Dojo, and become a friend of Kenshin. Since the "Red Report Army" was eliminated by the Meiji army, he hated the Meiji government. He has particapted in many battles together with Kenshin against the rivals.
