Industry Opinion - The Future of Sales Where will the future of sales be in the future?
This is a question that people should start asking themselves, especially if they are in sales. Take a look around you, what is not influenced by sales in some manner or form? Doctors they sell their services all the time. Lawyers?well let?s not go there. The government? It sells too, all the State of the Union address is, is a big sales pitch for support. So with the invention of the web, how will sales change? Well first off it will make certain sales people more valuable. What makes me say that? Well if you can sell, you can sell anything, from paper clips to computers, to services. Those people will become more developed and skilled and then become more valuable. Those that don?t well they will get left behind and fall to a position that has only been available in person-to-person sales ?Personal Sales Assistant?. There?s nothing wrong with this person, or position. But for a sales person who is comfortable with a certain way to do business. This might become a little dull. Take a look at ?LL Bean? they have an interactive web site. You log on, browse around when you want help you just ask. Someone calls you up, and can even take control of your browser, and show you different styles, colors, etc of product. Then walk you through the sales process. Wow welcome to the new generation. If more people who want to stay sales people don?t wake up & start to do a few basic things then they will have the same fate befall them, that hit Detroit in the 70s. They will be replaced by a computer (or more aptly a cyborg a computer human hybrid). So I say to all sales professionals, start to take that extra step today. Give a little bit better customer service, or demonstrate your product knowledge, show you?ve got an edge. This will put you in a better position to survive this time of change!!

God?s Out of Style Yet Again

It?s been over 5,000 years and God has come in & out of style. It?s nice to know that God isn?t influenced by such things as peer pressure, polls, family dictates, or government restrictions. Think about this ?We? as a country asked God?s help in obtaining a place where we can worship in peace, and we promised to devote this place to Him. We even offered the ?New World? to God. So look where we are today. God can?t go to school, can?t get in government, can?t influence laws at lease not directly?and God forbid (pun intended) anyone of importance invoke His name. That person will then be subjected to the standards that God Himself would only be able to meet. Think about it, anyone that is a ?Christian? is held to a higher standard than anyone else?and rightly so. BUT suppose that Christian falls down. We as a society hold our public figures up to such standards that no one can reach them, or keep to them. Then WHEN they fall we burn them at the steak. Why? Well I think it?s because if we do that..then we can say ?See we aren?t as bad as that? when in our hearts we know we are. How do we change it?? Well first we?ve got to stop looking at everyone under a microscope and look at ourselves. We all know the difference between right & wrong. So we stop making excuses for the wrong. And we start doing the right. WE all look inside and pick up trash, be polite, open doors, let people in on the highway, teach our kids right from wrong, stop trying to protect our kids from life, let?s do the right things and let?s look to our families. Then in a few years maybe there will be someone worth voting for, and living next to, and letting them watch our children, etc. We all need to start looking to God to return America back to the land of freedom and doing His will!!

Personal Opinion
What do you think...from the e-mails Sent: Wednesday, November 01, 2000 10:46 AM
Subject: FW: VOTE NO ON BILL 602P

Subject: VOTE NO ON BILL 602P

I SURE HOPE THIS DOES NOT GO THROUGH, THE POST OFFICE HAS NOTHING
TO DO WITH OUR E-MAIL, WE DO NOT OWE THEM A THING. PLEASE SEND THIS ON TO EVERONE YOU KNOW.

VOTE NO ON BILL 602P!!!

I guess the warnings were true. Federal Bill 602P 5-cents per E-mail Sent.
Its figures!
No more free E-mail! We knew this was coming!! Bill 602P will permit the Federal Government to charge 5-cents on every Delivered E-mail. Please read the following carefully if you intend to stay on line, and continue using E-mail. The last few months have revealed an alarming trend in the Government of the United States attempting to quietly push through legislation that will affect our use of the internet. Under proposed legislation, the US Postal Service will be attempting to bill E-mail users out of "alternative postage fees". Bill 602P will permit the Federal Government to charge a 5-cent surcharge on every E-mail delivered, by billing Internet Service Providers at source. The consurner would then be billed in turn by the ISP. Washington DC lawyer Richard Stepp is working without pay to prevent this legislation from becoming law. The US Postal Service is claiming lost revenue, due to the proliferation of E-mail, is costing nearly $230,000,000 in revenue per year. You may have noticed their ad campaign:

"There is noting like a letter".
Since the average person received about 10 pieces of E-mail per day in 1998, the cost of the typical individual would be an additional 50 cents a day-or over $180 per year above and beyond their regular Inermet costs. Note that this would be money paid directly to the US Postal Service
for a service they do not even provide. The whole point of the Internet is democracy and noninterference. You are already paying an exorbitant price for snail mail because of
bureaucratic efficiency. It currently takes up to 6 days for a letter to be delivered from coast to coast. If the US Postal Service is allowed to tinker with E-mail, it will mark the the end of the "FREE" Internet in the US. Our congressional representative, Tony Schnell=AE has even suggested a "$20-$40 per month surcharge on all Internet service" above and beyond the
Government proposed E-mail charges. Note that most of the major Newspapers have ignored the story the only exception being the Washingtonian-which called the idea of E-mail surcharge
"a useful concept who's time has come" (6 March 1999 Editorial). Do not sit by and watch your Freedom erode away!! Send this E-mail to EVERYONE on your list, and tell all your friends
and relatives to write their Congressional Representative and SAY "NO TO BILL 602P". It will only take a few moments of your time and could very well be instrumental in Killing a bill we do not want.

Urban Legends

What harm do they do? On the surface none I guess. BUT wait a minute, take a look at this, here are my impressions on things like this:

1. As a people who is amused by starting this kind of trash? The same people who think chain letters are funny I would bet.

2. As a people are we reduced to Lemmings, just following someone (faceless or not) just because they say things that upset us? Don?t facts matter anymore?

3. Don?t people check into such matters before pushing the panic button? I saw another e-mail like this for instant messages for web tv people. That was a hoax too? Are we so cynical that we take bad news as ?law? because it is bad news? ?They? are always out to ?get? us. When did America become the land of ?US vs. THEM??

This subject was recently discussed in the NY Senate debates the narrator was embarrassed to find out this is an urban myth. So no one is immune. As Americans we should question those issues that take our freedoms away such as information transfer (freedom of speech). The price of freedom is eternal vigilance. Or to put it another way ?All it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do??nothing.?

Next time you see or hear of something that plays on your fears, and tries to stir you to an action, question it. Find out about it. If it turns out that it?s well founded?STAND UP FOR IT!! If we each make that commitment to each other as Americans, we wouldn?t have 40% voter turn out, apathy, and incramentalism taking a foothold in EVERY aspect of our lives.

Just my opinion?..
