The Crash of BII-124

On 19 February, 1942 an Imperial Japanese Navy A6m2 "Zero" was damaged by a single rifle bullet over Darwin Harbour during the massive airstrike on the town.

The pilot, Flight Sergeant Hajimi Toyoshima, crashed his damaged aircraft on Melville Island, North-west of Darwin whilst trying to land back on his aircraft carrier, Hiryu.

This webpage details the capture of Toyoshima by local Tiwi (Aboriginal) inhabitants, and the leading role which he took during the worlds largest sucessful prison escape, the "Cowra Breakout" in July 1944.

The Lieutentant George Cantello Memorial

This site features the memorial to a single American fighter pilot who took off in his P39 Aircobra from an airfield in Sydney on the 8th of June 1942 to intercept a Japanese submarine that was shelling Sydney with its deck gun.

Native Police

The Native Police are infamous for their brutality and the enormous damage they did to Aboriginal families and communities during the Colonial conflicts for Australia.  Led by white officers, these para-military units slaughtered and pillaged Aboriginal communities in mainland Australia for the process of white settlement and colonisation between 1850 and 1900.

This website will feature many images I have collected over the last three years.

To be completed
