When We Were
When we were together
nothing else mattered.
You were there for me
and I was there for you.
Then you went away.
Everything changed between us.
We dated others
and we drifted apart.
We used to talk so freely.
Now we can't exchange a word.
We would count on eachother.
Now, could I still trust you?
We thought that when you came back
everything would be back to normal.
We would still be together.
You with me and me with you.
But something happened while you were gone.
You found another to love,
to take my place in your life.
And you wouldn't tell me.
then you called me
and asked me back.
My heart wanted to say yes,
but my answer was NO.
Then the day of your return came.
Foolish me that night.
I ran into your arms
and kissed you.
I want you back.
But do I have the trusted needed
or the forgiveness for you
to tell you yes.
Only time will tell
will we be back as one.
or will we remain as two.
And live our lives as mere friends. |
