Missionaries On The Field . . .
|
By Greg Randall and Rev. Jodi Davidson
What is a missionary? They are a great bunch of dedicated Christians who have given up everything familiar to them to go to a foreign land just because the Lord told them to go. Ain't that great? Like Philip who left the great revival in Samaria to go through the desert to Gaza. God had one (1) Ethiopian eunuch that He wanted Philip to minister to. And Philip went!
Who are our missionaries today? I hope you have been taking note of them on this page since we began it. They are ordinary people that answered the call on their life to go into all the world teaching, preaching and making disciples for Christ. Wow!! They are people I'm going to tell you about each week. You can be on the field with them through these articles you read here. You can also write them yourself or "call" them up on the net. They love to hear from home, just like you would if the places were reversed.
PRAISE REPORT! Last month, Sally Cupit was able finally able to go to Tanzania and Paul and LaDonna Moses were able to travel to Haiti to serve as missionaries. Praise God! Thanks for your prayers concerning these servants of God. By the way, Paul and LaDonna Moses have a special prayer request. They need to purchase a generator for their home in Haiti because they only have electricity for a few hours everyday. The cost is about $1,500.00 This is no problem for our God. Mike and Cindy Bowen, serving in Spain, have great news to report. They are learning Spanish and making friends. They are meeting new people mostly through their kid's parties that they have for their two children and the kids in the neighborhood who are invited over for Kool-Aid, rice crispy treats and other snacks. These kids often bring their parents with them to meet the Bowens, and so new friendships and connections are born. They ask that you pray for them to become fluent in speaking Spanish and that they will continue to find favor with their community. Also, that they will have more witnessing opportunities.
Tim and Beth Salley, serving in Durban, South Africa, talk about songs of praise and cries of pain. They recently attended two conferences of the South Africa IPHC. The congregation was made up of a few Whites and Indians, but mostly Black Africans. These services provided the most beautiful and harmonious singing that the Salley's had ever heard. The worship dances that they did were also enchanting. These poor people gave a sacrifice of praise to honor God and rejoice out of their poverty. The flip side of South Africa is the cries of pain brought about by violence, outrage, fear, and the occult. The Salley's said that most of their ministry opportunities have been in the Indian community. It has received them as part of their area and the Salley's are grateful. Tim and Beth ask that you pray that the many cries of pain, strife and anger heard will be transformed into joyful shouts of salvation as God's wonderful love is proclaimed.
Darrel and Bonnie Clowers, serving in Panama, have this to say, "Que Tal!", what's happening! They are now attending their second trimester of language school in San Jose, Costa Rica, where they are learning Spanish. Also, they have been witnessing to their neighbors the Savior's love. Bonnie and her son, Trevor, were in the hospital back in August for minor health problems and are now doing just fine. They said they've had some bad times, but they prefer to focus on the God of comfort found in 2 Corinthians 1: 3-11. This is better than having a pity party. Darrel and Bonnie reported that God is mightily moving in Panama, especially in the town of Chitre. They have submitted these prayer requests to you: 1. To be more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. 2. The sale of their van that is still in California. 3. Panama and the work ahead of them there. 4. Remember their three kids and the many transitions they have and will make. 5. Transition into a new culture. 6. They desire that God will raise-up a team of Panamanians to work with them.
Russell and Sandra Board, missionaries to Japan, talk about the gospel of hope. In desperate need of a firm ground for hope, Japan is ripe for the gospel. Widespread problems such as fear of the future, materialism, lonliness, suicide, pessimism, and economic downturns have brought this proud country to a crisis stage. But so far the number of Christians remains below one percent of the population. The deep incorporation of Shinto and Buddhism into Japanese culture has left most people feeling that to embrace Christianity is to forsake their Japanese identity. This deception serves to keep people from even considering Christ, and cuts them off from the only source of real hope in this world or the next. What can you do to help bring hope to this desperate nation? Pray! Prayer is the only thing strong enough to breakdown the barriers of false religion, materialism, nationalism, and traditionalism that keep the gospel from penetrating the minds and hearts of the Japanese people. **PRAY that the Spirit of God will give wisdom and insight to missionairies who must find ways to minister cross-culturally. **PRAY that the Japanese church will be revived and break out of old traditional structures to move ahead in the power of the Spirit. **PRAY that the light of truth will shine brightly in the darkness and show people the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. **PRAY that hope will rise again in Japan, through the risen Christ who is our living hope!
I always get so excited when I read my mail notice each day and see I have received a 'letter' from some of my friends on the field. They need our prayers and support to stay there, so let us be faithful to remember them daily.

GOD'S HEART
|
These are some of the missionaries whose heart is in their called-to land, but their bodies are still on the itineration trail, trying to raise support. As you read their names and needs, please do so in a prayerful attitude, praying for them.
Carolyn Lewelyn, soon-to-be missionary to Panama, is itenerating right now to raise her financial base of support. She has many years of experience working in children's ministry and drama, which will serve her well as she will be ministering to poor children in small towns and rural villages in Panama. What makes drama so great and practical is that children love it and it is so easy to understand the meaning of stories in any language through dance, hand gestures, comedy, mime, magic tricks etc. It is a universal language all its own! Please pray for Carolyn and her ministry. Her heart is already with the Panamanian people.
Scott and Cathy Miller, a beautiful young missionary couple, hope to soon be heading for Kenya. They have a burden for the large population of Indian people in Kenya, who are mostly Hindus by religios tradition. Ask the Lord Jesus to bless the Millers with the finances to make this dream possible.
Russell and Sandra Board, missionaries to Japan, are back in the United States on furlough. They will be visiting family and friends, and, most of all, itinerating in hundreds of Pentecostal Holiness Churches across America to raise their financial support.
Ray and JoAnne Case will be going to Malawi for the first time.
David and Linda Fannin, serving in Malawi, are also back at home on furlough. They will also be visiting a lot churches to strengthen their financial base.
Stefan and Andrea Hall, veteran missionaries to Ghana, are back in the States with us again to raise support.
Tony and Sherry Martin, new soon-to-be missionaries in Nicaragua, are just waiting for the financial blessings to go to their new country.
Michael and Jennifer Oliver have served as short-term missionaries to Israel before and will soon be going to stay and serve permanently. Praise the Lord for missionaries in the Holy Land!
Ernest and Cheryl Turner, serving in Zambia, are back home to raise support.
Ron and Sharon Wooten, missionaries to Kenya, are enjoying their time back in the United States, but are looking forward to going back to the work they left behind in Kenya, especially at the Eldoret Bible Training Center.
Sue Young is a young lady who hopes to go serve God in Nicaragua. May God bless her for answering His call upon her life. ________________________________________
REMEMBER!!!!!!!
Please pray for planted seeds of the gospel to spring forth with a great harvest of souls for the Kingdom of God. These workers must have the prayers of the children of God here in the states and elsewhere if they are to be successful. So let's pray for them daily. Thanks.
