The Arrival

Little fingers curl up tight to make a tiny fist,

As fairy lips purse out as if to make a gentle kiss. . .

Eyes, wide as a kitten's, and little button nose,

You look like someone's angel--down to your pudgy toes. . .

Although you are so wrinkled and your face is still so pale,

And the only song you seem to know sounds like a shrilling wail,

When you are here before me, finally, I feel complete.

I've waited so long, sweetheart. . . at last, we finally meet.

Kippy - 2 days old

kip7141.GIF (46552 bytes) Kippy’s arrival into this world was a momentus occasion, not only for Kip and I but for the rest of our family too.

Our little boy was finally here, a moment we had been hoping and praying for.  He was beautiful, strong, and most important he was ours.   Ours to love, nurture, and teach all the joys and anguishes that come with life.

Life is filled with so many moments.  Some we choose to remember, others we wish we could forget, and still others we wish we could remember.  Childbirth entails all of of these things.  We wish to forget the pain, and to always remember the joy.    But it is the pain, not just physical, but the emotional pain, and the trama parents put themselves through as they list all of the what-if's that might go wrong, it is this pain that makes life.  It is the absolute joy that comes after all the pain when you see and hold your child for the first time that makes life.  It's all the ups, it's all the downs, and it's all the in betweens that make life.   I hope that somehow I will be able to convey this to Kippy, because it is all of these things that are going to make him who he is.

Please read the following two poems, they are wonderful expressions of love for new (and old) mommies and daddies.
