!BIRTH/PARENTS/MARRIAGE/DEATH: Daughter of Major Samuel and Anna (Barney)
SHEPARDSON. Ref: BARNEY FAMILY IN AMERICA, Pg. 149, #1172; Pg. 286, #1162.
DAR Lineage Book 97:276-277 - names her Patricia Shepardson
Letter to EDP - Feb. 27, 1926 - Bruce B. Barney, 5 N. La Salle St., Chicago,
Ill.: "My grandfather - name Zelotus Barney. Born 1800; married Permelia
Shepardson - settled in the Village of Adams, Jefferson County, New York.
They had 2 sons who lived to manhood: Burleigh B. Barney, Wendel Barney. My
grandfather was Postmaster at Adams, Jefferson Co., New York."
Letter, Dec. 6, 1933, from Eva Kate (Barney) Davis to Hazel (Barney) Manns
(file Roberta Lawrence Folder): "Grandfather Barney's name was (Simon) Zelotus Barney and Grandmother was Parmelia Shepardson. I think this should be spelled "Pamelia," leaving the "r" out. The easterners leave off every "r" at the end of a word and generally put an "r" on after a vowel. Grandfather and Grandmother were first cousins."
"The Shepardson Family," by Francis Wayland Shepardson, 1907; p.7: "They settled first at Adams, N.Y., near where his wife's siters, Chloe and Anna, located. Later they moved to Ohio, where she died at Sandusky, 23 July 1849, of the cholera, which was epidemic that year."
