WHEN IS IT TO LATE

When the world seems to have no answers,
When everyone around you take all you have,

When finding that extra strength to do what is needed just to keep living
Seems like an endless task,

When you can't see the open door and no one seems to be holding it for you
When the clouds that cover the sky are all gray
When you seek to find the answers to a history that is yet unknown

When people see you as a child even at the age of 53 (and that's not me)
When you see yourself as a child and you are 53

When there are no jokes that make you laugh
When you look into the mirror and see nothing in return

When you write a friend from years ago and
get a large return envelope that states 'return to sender unwanted mail'

When you seek to find a purpose and there is none to be found
When you find the only person responding to you is you
then maybe it is to late -- maybe

Yet with all of this you seem to feel a spark inside
telling you to go on and be the person you need to be
You then RETURN to the mirror
Where there seems to be a slight image looking back at you
you must then ask yourself how
to put a real reflection back into what you see

So many people today only care about what happens in their own lives
There doesn't seem to be that connection, that longing or the need
to be involved in a cause that could shape the course of history.

That could change how we all see ourselves and those around us.

That could tell us it is never to LATE to be WHO we need to be.
