Tenchi Muyo is about a boy named Tenchi Masaki who stumbles upon a cave at his grandfather's shrine. He reawakens a mummy, who brings adventures with her and new people for Tenchi to meet.
Tenchi Masaki is an average 15 year old boy who's curiosity gets the best of him. He meets 6 young women who all want him for themselves.
Ryoko is the mummy Tenchi finds in his grandfather's shrine. She is a criminal space demon who was controlled by an evil man named Kagato. She falls for Tenchi.
Ayeka is the crown princess of the planet, Jurai. She is searching for her half-brother and lover, Yosho, who fought Ryoko and became missing. Her ship crashes on Earth during a fight with Ryoko. She too falls for Tenchi.
Sasami is Ayeka's younger sister. She follows Ayeka to Earth. She loves Tenchi like a brother.
Mihoshi is a Galaxy Police officer. She is very clumsy. Her ship falls to Earth on her assignment to find Ryoko. She falls for Tenchi, but is shy about it.
Washiu is a famous mad-scientist who loves to invent things. She was captured by Kagato and is freed by Tenchi. She falls for Tenchi as well.
Ryo-oki is Ryoko's ship and pet. She loves carrots and is half cat, half rabbit (cabbit).
