What is the Maori Language The Maori Language is the native language of New Zealand (Aotearoa) spoken by the Maori people. It was not yet a written language until the English came to New Zealand and translated it. It consists of the letters A E H I K M N O P R T U W NG WH. It originated from either somewhere (allot like other pacific Island languages) either from south America or around china somewhere. Because of Similar words like manumanu in Chinese and manu in Maori, both meaning bird.
I'm running out of things to say so...If you want to start from the start of learning then go to Beginner Maori. If you know even a little bit of Maori then I suggest maybe skimming beginner and going nearly directly to intermediate Maori. People who are probably better than me should go to Higher level Maori, named higher level because experienced or expert Maori sounds dumb, but they mean the same thing. Beginner starts at about form 1/year 7 at school. intermediate starts at about form 4/ year 10 at school and higher level starts at extended Maori Learning out of school/university/1st language speakers/maybe form 7 - anything I don't know yet. The Dictionary is the Maori dictionary-probably not up. |
