Moscow
Red Square
Red Square the day after our arrival. This is the scene of the outside of the Kremlin walls.
Some of the rain we needed in Kansas instead followed us through our tour.
In the picture is Lenin's mausoleum in Red Square.
The lines aren't as long as when the Communists were in power, but the wait is still
around 45 minutes. Our guide collected $1.00 from each of us, bribed a guard,
and we were able to go right in. I felt that the tourists in line were
looking daggers at us, but it seemed best not to look back.
Lenin looks ready for Madame Tussaud's. The government doesn't really
know what to do with Lenin, but for now he's staying put in his
air conditioned mausoleum and getting some kind of maintenance annually,
I assume touching up the wax.
