Russian houses
Typical Russian houses in villages

These houses are fairly typical.  They're small, they look ramshackle,
their roofs sag, they aren't level, the small yards are unkempt.
Some have TV antennas, but few have driveways and garages.

We saw people carrying water, and we didn't see how far they had to carry it.

Remarkable Russian house
This is a Russian style house, but it is remarkable because it's clean,
level, decorated, and not falling apart.
The owner had a way to get construction materials from the tour buses,
and this house used to be a tour stop.

The typical three windows in the front are said to represent the Holy Trinity,
but really rich peasants tend to have four windows to flaunt their wealth.
