Air Transport Safety - Accidents

Aviation safety is a subject of intense interest to the flying public and to those whose livelihoods depend on the air transportation industry. Round the clock television news channels and the rise of the World Wide Web as a communications medium has also led to unprecedented levels of media coverage of aviation safety issues, especially in the wake of a major airline accident. We shall examine aircraft accidents involving major airline and general aviation flights, providing people of all ratings with valuable lessons and techniques they can use to improve their flying safety and airmanship. Presented from the perspectives of pilots, crewmembers and air traffic controllers, the accidents are grouped by probable cause: human factors, weather, mid-air collisions, and mechanical failure.
