One of the newest of the modes of transport, air transportation has expanded very rapidly since 1950. Airlines are the specialists in transport, being principally passenger carriers, and by efficient operation they have captured a high proportion of the ?for hire? passenger market. A small but important freight market exists for goods with such characteristics as high value, light weight, need for speedy delivery, and/or perishability.
We will thus provide the aviation people in the analysis of aviation safety data with specific insights into how to systematically find, classify, and evaluate aviation data in order to answer specific questions about airline safety and operations. Using a combination of hyperlinks and some literature references, the surfer will be provided with the basic tools necessary to ask specific aviation related questions and to find the relevant information needed to answer the question. This web page will also provide an overview of some of the issues involved in analyzing aviation safety and operational data as well as a practical guide for using that information to answer specific questions about airline safety and airline operations.
