The tents of Mombo. Finally a tent without a baboon crapping and pissing on it all night long.
This is a
Baobab
tree. They were prevalent
all over the areas of Sub-Sahara Africa that we were at, most notable in the Okavango
Delta. This is one of the larger ones we came across. You can just
make us out at the bottom of the tree. There is much debate about the age
of these tress, being a succulent, they do not have rings to count. We
heard many different accounts of the age of the trees, from 400 years to 4000
years. It is for certain, no matter what school of thought you believe,
that they are very big, very old, very beautiful trees.

The African python. We were just able to catch the tail end going down a burrow hole with the camera, although we caught a good portion of the snake with our eyes. It had appear that it had just eaten as the body was extended in the middle, and it was BIG. We only saw one other snake, and that was an African cobra in Zambia, the ones that spit. Unfortunately, we weren't camera ready at that instant.
