MOMBO CAMP   page 6

The Mornings

There is an ever-present joke in all the African camps.  You travel halfway around the world to go on a relaxing holiday and every morning you are awaken before dawn by knocks on the door or African drums and forced to go into some damn jeep.  Look at the sorry state of these people in the morning.

The Breakdown

So, I know you were all wondering if those Land Rovers and Land Cruisers ever broke down there in the bush. Well, these for the most part were very reliable, especially in light of the beating they took on a day to day basis.  But as is evidence here, things do happen, although it only happened once during our whole stay in Africa.

So, Elyse and I had to find a tree to climb as our tire was changed.

Where the buffalo roam

The buffalo were very curious of the changing of the tire routine.

The singing and dancing

We were treated to an authentic African dinner during our stay at Mombo.  All the employees entertained us before the meal with singing and dancing, and then we enjoyed a most delicious dinner under the stars.
