BANGKOK

Bankok is the "Venice of the east", a colourful and noisy blend of temples, chaotic traffic, excellent hotels and smiling courteous people, that enchant and fascinate.

Bankok is a veritable Aladdin's cave for shoppers where bargains are found in everthing from Thai silks to semi precious stones, clothes, handicrafts and exotic fruit.
Amidst the cacophony of noise and spicy food one can still find the tranquility of saffron robed monks, an image that captures the spirit of Thailand.

Bangkok is my fifth destination delight and I am spending five nights there.  With the help of the lonely planet guide for Bankok I hope to stay in hostels.  I may explore the new monorail system, which traverses the city above the traffic or speed along the network of klongs or canals by longtail boats and witness how ramshackle houses built up on stilts lie alongside modern hotels.
