I don't know how many still work when you read it - See News.
Here I want to put some links. This is just
to help people start, not that I want to compete with Rambler or Omen.
If you think that a link to your page should (or
should not ) be here please let me know.
The problem with these links is that the good cites are in
Russian and the sites in English usually suck. I don't mean
design. I mean contents. (There are reasons for that but I don't
want to go there.) However, as with any rule, there are
exceptions and you can find them below. All links
will open a new window. And, yeah, RUNET means RUssian
interNET. Enjoy the ride...
American Chamber of Commerce in Russia - people, I am serious, just make sure you scroll all the way down. Very good collection of English language links and tons of useful information ( "look from the limousine" correction is still needed but not much. Some statements are a bit outdated too.)
The List of Russian Web Servers - this place may have less links than Omen but seem to be friendlier to English speakers
Russophilia! - another fine English language catalog
"Omen: Best links in Internet" - my favorite starting point on the Runet. Skip "music and dating" stuff (I guess, that's what English speaking visitors mostly interested in. In Russian version "music and dating" are nothing but two humble links) and follow "Best Links in Internet" - hundreds of links that mostly work
English version of Yandex, one of the best search engines on Runet (and one of the few that have English version)
Rapid Live Links - a links collection. It is small now but it has a potential.
Lenta.Ru - although this place is not as good as its Russian version (which is my favorite news source) it still can be used to get the second opinion (believe me, an opinion from a US news agency can not be viewed as the second opinion if the first one comes from another US news agency)
Interfax
- good news agency, English version is not that different from
Russian (wow!), just a bit of PC editing. ( PC does not stay for
personal computer here :) )
I removed these because Travel sections of The List of Russian Web Servers or Russophilia! will do the job better.
For better or for worse but one doesn't have to go to Russia to meet Russians anymore.
Russian America - yellow pages of Russian community in the US, language related services and more
Not that I agree with evrything they say on these pages but if the page is here I think it worth checking out
