The Minnesota State Championship Series
Last year to claim a State Jujitsu Champion a player would fight one or two matches. On the outside they would fight three and rarely fight four matches to claim the impressive sounding title of state champion.
This year the winner Submission Grappling and Endurance divisions fought 11 matches in each division. The Sparring champion fought 8 matches. And the winner of all combined matches fought 27 fights against 18 different players over the course of 5 nights.
While the numbers of players each night of the series were modest; the series attracted 30 adult fighters and over 100 matches were held.
The submission ratio was over 62% for the entire series. That means that 62% of rounds ended in submissions. The submission break down per division:
SG: 69%
End: 94%
Spar: 51%

It was by far the best tournament I have ever been involved in.  It offered more challange, required more commitment and hit closer to the heart of what our sport should be about then any other event I have ever been part of.
