Mets Can't Get a Grip

Rey Ordonez
A team that was once a hot contender for the NL East Division winners are now strugling just to get in the playoffs. They are now 1 1/2 games out behind Houston for the wild card and things aren't looking up. They are 2-8 in their last ten and have lost seven straight games. Unless they can turn around in tonight's game against Atlanta, it could be one of baseball history's biggest upsets ever. Atlanta will send Greg Maddux (19-8 3.33) to the hill against Al Leiter (11-12, 4.48). Remember that earlier in the season against the Yankees Al Leiter beat Roger Clemens to end an eight game slide and after that, the next few months went very well. If he can beat Clemens and the Yanks, he can beat Maddux and the Braves.
