The Originals
    The Springboro Bandits all-star team was started in 1996.  These original members played in three local tournaments, finishing third in the Kettering Amateur Baseball Comission tournament (KABC).  They played baseball for six weeks, and it was the most fun I have ever had in baseball.  We came together as unknowns and left as the best of friends.  The friendships founded that summer are very special to all of us.

    Several of the ball players from this original team are still playing baseball in the Springboro Clearcreek Baseball Association (SCBA), some are playing on traveling teams, while a few retired from baseball all together.  All of the original Bandit coaches are still coaching, two on the current Bandits Baseball Club.

    I'll never forget these players. Joey Krella led the team with a .571 batting average and also led with 6 RBI's.  Ryan George batted .471 and led the team in girl watching.  Ben Haws hit .380 and pitched in four games. Kyle Duignan hit a homerun while his dad was out of town. CJ Raberding played solid defense while hitting .363.  His dad was also our scorekeeper.  Josh Blom hit .347 and led the team in hits.  Jason McIntosh scored 5 runs and hit in another 4, he also recorded the teams only save.  Pete Tepe always had a joke to tell.  Patrick Godfrey fouled off 8 pitches in a crucial at bat in which he singled against KABC.  Adam Knox had the hit (A TRIPLE) that started the scoring in our first win. Jeff Thibodeau led the team in wins and innings pitched, also playing left field.  And how about the fantastic catches Jon Smoth made patrolling the outfield.  Jamie Rowland pitched and played left field.

    In 1998 Jerry Blom decided to form a traveling baseball team of 11 & 12 year olds.  He thought about the great times we had.  He decided to carry on the team name of the Bandits, forming th Springboro Bandits Baseball Club.  Two brothers of the original Bandits play on the current team, Luke Blom and Chris Godfrey (brothers of Josh Blom & Patrick Godfrey).  The original Bandits gave this team the Inspiration and the Legacy.
