Did you know: Owen had an auspicious debut into the sport of wrestling: while attending Ernest Manning Jr./Sr. High School, he captured the city championships, and was national collegiate amateur champion later on. In Japan, he made history by becoming the first western-born wrestler to capture the I.W.G.P. Jr. Heaveyweight title. Though he had not yet broken into one of the more widely known federations yet, he was still voted the PWI rookie of the year for 1987. Not surprisingly, he was nicknamed "Kamikaze" by the "Wrestling Observer" Newsletter for his high-risk, high-flying 'tude. (This came to a halt once he severed a ligament in his knee and he was warned to come down to Earth or risk permanant injury almost six years ago.) He even had a brief stint with WCW. In all honesty, it never amounted to much. I remember seeing him on television ONCE. Anyway, his fave TV show was "Frasier" (mine, too!) and his favorite movie was "Rocky." He also liked Chinese food, and you might have caught him viewing flicks by actors such as Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, and Robert DeNiro. He also enjoyed country music (Garth Brooks, in particular), cycling, swimming, football, and spending time with his family. He will be missed.
