Website Information SCHC

The Club and the site:

• This Website gives you information and infotainment about the above mentioned hockey- and cricket club.
• This site is operational since January 1996
• It is the intention to have this site run by the club itself and that it will be a way to communicate with the members and fans of the club. In time there will be founded a team who will be responsible for the content of this site. Also a more findable domain will be registered (http://www.schc.nl).
  Especially the youth will be counted on for the realization of this website in the future.
• Since October 1998 the English site is being developed.
• Beside the club (printed) magazine there will be the possibility to bring out a email newsletter to fans, members and other interested people.
• October, 28 - 1998 was the buzziest day so far with 43 visitors.
• On 14th October 1998 the 6000st visitor visited the SCHC site.
• The viewers statistics started to be recorded on 3 may 1997.

Technical:

• The site is now hosted on a server of World Access / Planet Internet and is therefore not bigger than 2 Mb (www-provider membership limit) in the future this will be much bigger (15 Mb+).
• The pages and images are saved in different logical directories on the server.
• The images are optimized and compressed to save downloading time.
• The menu structure is chosen so that from different pages there is a logical next step in the site.
• On the pages there is a button to jump to Nedstat (bottom right) which leads to the visitors statistics.
• This site gets around 4000 visitors yearly (from 44 countries already).
• The design and programming has been done by P. de Vink.
• Frontpage en PaintShop Pro have been used to get this result.
• Helvetica (also known as Arial) has been chosen for typeface because of its good readabillity and because most of the PC's have this typeface on board.
• The colors red and blue are the colors of the club.
• The waterdrops on the left represent the sweat of all the sporting people at SCHC (as well as my sweat and tears to run this site).
• Work has been done on a Pentium 133MhZ, flatbed scanner, 33k6 modem and a lot of spare time.
• Through the service of http://www.websitegarage.com the site is being checked for correct html code.
• A 33K6 modem and ftp program are being used for uploading the pages to the server.
