Part six

Linzi stared miserably out of the window of David's car as they drove to the next arena. It was a bit of a squash because they'd given Juvi a lift. Any attempt at cheerful conversation had petered out and they sat in silence, listening to the radio. Leanne Rimes came on singing 'How do I live without you' Mel quickly snapped the radio off.

"Me and my stupid plans." muttered Jade.

"No," exclaimed Linzi, "I won't let you blame yourself. I agreed to the plan."

Later Kidman returned to the arena, remembering about Juvi. The only wrestler he could find was Saturn.

"Juvi's got another lift," he said in reply to Kidman's enquiry, "but you can give me a lift. Save me getting the plane."

Saturn glanced at the young man as they drove down the freeway. He noted the fact that Kidman was still in his ring gear and the way he gripped the wheel. Leanne Rimes started singing 'How do I live without you' on the radio and Kidman turned it off abruptly.

"Want to talk about it?" asked Saturn.

"No." said Kidman. They drove on in silence for a while.

"I suppose everyone knows about it anyway?" asked Kidman.

"Yes." nodded Saturn, Kidman sighed. He told Saturn the whole story as they went along.

"The way I see it," said Saturn, "Is you can either ignore her, let her out of your life and then twenty years down the road wonder why the hell you did. Or you could take a risk and actually talk to her, listen to what she has to say." Kidman shrugged.

"You do know that she was sitting in the lot crying when you drove off."

"No." said Kidman surprised.

"Just think on it." advised Saturn.

Further down the road, in David's car, Mel was now driving with Linzi beside her. In the back seat Jade had apparently fallen asleep on Juvi's shoulder. Linzi looked back and Jade winked at her. Mel and Linzi exchanged smiles.

"Another one bites the dust." quipped Mel.
