It's a thin line
Part five
"Bye
darling." Linzi replaced the phone and stepped out of the phone booth.
"Darling
hey?" said Billy's voice behind her, "Don't tell me you've found a guy
mad enough to hook up with the wild cat from hell."
"Actually
it was my daughter." snapped Linzi.
"Daughter?"
Billy raised his eyebrow. "Anyone I know?" Linzi blushed and pushed
passed him.
"Just
leave me alone."
Later
Billy was sitting in the bar with Mel.
"Do
you know anything about Linzi's daughter?" he asked Mel.
"Only
that she's called Emily and she'll be two soon. Oh and she's being brought over
in the next couple of weeks." Billy took a sip of his drink and then
suddenly banged it down.
"What's
wrong? You made me jump." Mel exclaimed, scared by the look on his face.
"If
my suspicions are correct, then she's gone way to far this time." Billy
stood up. Mel tried to pull him back into his seat. He pushed her off.
"You
don't understand." he told her.
"I
do." said Mel, "You think that Emily's yours and you want to confront
Linzi about it."
"Well
done. Correct on both counts." he said as he strode out of the room.
Mel
buried her head in her hands. This was a situation that was getting uglier by
the minute. 'Poor Emily,' she thought, 'getting dropped into this.'
