This is the list of all the Manchester United managers there have ever been. Some of these men have interesting stories to be told about them, read on for MORE!!!
Ernest Mangnall
He was the first Manchester United manager and in his nine years incharge he set United off in the correct way.
Football League Champions: 1907/08, 1910/11
Division 2 runners up: 1905/06
FA Cup winners: 1909
John Robson:
He was given a long chance at Manchester United, as he had seven years incharge, but he did no good for Manchester United. He was however the first person to assume the job name of MANAGER.
John Chapman:
The only story behind this man is that in 1926 the FA suspended him from football. He was incharge when Manchester United had their first ever relegation in the season 1922/23.
Division 2 runners up: 1924/25
Clarence Hildrith:
He was incharge for only the one season and has been the only player-manager to date.
Herbert Bamlett:
He was the youngest man ever to referee an FA cup Final, in 1914 at the age of only 32. But as a manager he took Manchester United to their worst ever spell in football. He was sacked when Manchester United were relegated to the second division.
Walter Crickmer:
He never assumed the title of Manager but he was always involved in the team selection
Scott Duncan:
Was the man to finally get MUFC promoted to division 1 after 4 years incharge. But a poor first year in the top flight got to him.
Division 2 champions: 1935/36
Walter Crickmer:
His second period incharge lasted longer than the first but he was still unsuccessful, he just wasn't the right man.
The man who made MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB. Matt Busby was the man who started the success of the club.
SIR MATT BUSBY-The story

Jimmy Murphy:
He took incharge of Manchester United from February-August 1958. This was because Matt Busby had to be given time to recover from the MUNICH air disaster.
FA Cup runners up: 1958
Wilf McGuinness:
He got to three semi finals, two league cup and one FA cup, but that wasn't enough to keep him at Old Trafford.......it was now the time that Manchester United and there fans demanded Success.
Frank O'Farrell:
His short career at Manchester United, started off as if they had found the replacement for Matt Busby. By Christmas 1971 his team were five points clear at the top of the league, and with only two points for a win Manchester United looked in a very good position. But at the end of the season they were eighth and Frank O'Farrell was sacked.
Tommy Docherty:
After his second year incharge Manchester United were relegated, but surprisingly Tommy Docherty wasn't sacked. From this they bounced straight back to division one and have stayed there ever since.
Division 2 champions: 1974/75
FA Cup Winners: 1977

He was at Chelsea, appointed coach by Tommy Docherty. Sexton then went on to take the place of Tommy Docherty at both clubs.

Ron Atkinson:
Big Ron was another man who looked to be the person to do it at Old Trafford. In the 85/86 season he began the season with 10 straight league victories, yet again, he wasn't the man.
FA Cup Winners: 1983, 1985
League cup runners-up: 1983
Started in 1986 and still here, and nobody wants him to leave. He's the manager who can make Manchester United the best team ever. But he still has to get to Matt Busbys standard and win the European Cup.
