Welcome to this issue of Pain Tolerance. Hope you all had a good week end, and a Happy Halloween. Tonight’s column consists of thoughts on Survivor Series, the World Title tournament in WCW, some thoughts on the WWF Tag Team division, angle development in WWF, WCW and ECW, and to finish up, the failed gimmick of the week.

Well Survivor Series, the WWF Pay-per-view tradition of November has finally arrived, so far really only two matches are scheduled, the WWF title match, Stone Cold Steve Austin Vs. The Rock Vs. Triple H, and the Intercontinental Championship match, Y2J Chris Jericho Vs. The Ninth Wonder of the World Chyna. I’m sure they will not be the only titles on the line, maybe Test Vs. Bull Dog for the European championship will go down, and with the recent interest put back into the Tag Team Division with all the competitive teams, you got to bet the straps will be on the line as well. I wouldn’t mind seeing a tag team tornado gauntlet match for the titles. That would be totally awesome and entertaining to see. Or maybe a four team, Tag Team ladder match for the titles. Lots of high spots with two teams, add two more teams, your guaranteed an amazing bump fest.

The WWF really needs to get the Light Weight title back into play, or just eliminate it altogether. They got some smaller guys that really could use the title, to get a bit of the spotlight, that is practically owned by the larger guys. I would really like to see Christian and Papi Chulo go at it, or Brian Christopher and one of the Hardyz tear it up. Or wouldn’t it be hilarious to see Crash Holly win the Light Weight title, and get teased by Hardcore about not matching up to the Super Heavy Weights, and throwing a fit because he is recognized as the champion of the light weights.

Another thing surrounding the Survivor Series, is will this year mark the return of the four on four, or five on five elimination style of teams? I, along with many others really liked that format, and it was sad to see it not be apart of the tradition last year, as they did the sixteen man WWF title tournament. Last year’s Survivor Series, really just lacked the atmosphere of the heated affairs of two rivalry teams settling their scores, and who doesn’t enjoy seeing a wrestler down in the odds, with three to one, or even four to two, you just never know how it’s going to go down. Which leaves the suspense and competition.

The World title tournament in WCW is really an interesting tournament. It’s the first time, WCW has even put the lower mid-carders into a legitimate contender for the top title in the company. Although all reports state that Bret Hart is headed to his first WCW title reign, but will drop it to Goldberg at the December, WCW pay-per-view, Starrcade, it is still nice to see them give them a shot, unlike in the past where the main events have been dominated by the likes of Hogan, Savage, Goldberg, Hogan, Nash, Sting and a few others.

The Tag Team division in the WWF has found a new born interest in the fans eye as they have developed all these tag teams, and after a few months of character development, they have finally gotten over, and are now producing some great matches. The most memorable of late has been the tag team ladder match that went down at No Mercy.

The tag team no holds barred match that went down last night on Sunday Night Heat, with The Acolytes Vs. The Holly’s was pretty intense, but they really ruined it with the Holly’s hightailing it. I realize they want to keep the Acolytes over as tough guys, but come on, a wimpy Holly is useless. Pretty funny seeing Hardcore questioning Vince’s decision to make the Acolytes the number one contenders for the straps, and then seeing Crash boast that they are tag team champs and can really beat any team, since they are "Super Heavy Weights".

Now for the Angle Devlopments. So far, The Hardyz getting Terri’s services has done nothing. Where are the controversial GTV segments?! Where are the W’s in the win column?! Where are the straps?! Definitely not around them. The WWF has to build Terri up as a formidable competitor if they are going to make a big deal out of her.

What is with the Stephanie/Test fiasco now? Nothing. All we see is the same crap each week now, Steph wanting an apology, Bull Dog saying no, Shane and Test beat on Bull Dog and the Mean Street Posse, Test, Shane and Stephanie rejoice. What is that?! In this past week’s WWF BodySlam Newsletter they mentioned the Wedding, but really didn’t add any more to it, except that fact that they have bought a worthless site for it, which can be located at wwfwedding.com.

Revolution Vs. The Filthy Animals. LAME. What is up with this feud? They have the Revolution disintegrating within, while the Animals run wild on Ric Flair, but at the same time, DDP goes after Flair, and The Filthy Animals and the Revolution members go at it, over Torrie. Tonight on Nitro supposedly Eddy Guerruero Vs. Saturn will happen with the winner finally getting Torrie to them selves. Isn’t Kidman, Torrie’s main concern, why is do they have a match with her on the line, with Eddy in it?

In ECW, Tammy Sytch helping Dawn Marie?! What is going on? Enemies helping each other. I guess they are rekindling the feud that happened a couple months back when Sytch ran out during a Douglas match and got in a cat fight with the "Queen of Extreme", Francine.

Hak, or Sandman which ever you prefer, and Mikey Whipwreck are back in their first branching. I never got to see the Wild Sandman or Whipwreck work in ECW, but now on TNN on Friday nights I will. Will it be the same?

That’s just about it for this week, now it’s time for the failed gimmick of the week. This week’s Failed Gimmick of the Week is…..Nothing. Well not quite. Really there are just so many stupid things going on in wrestling, The Big Show’s father dying of cancer, the filthy animals or the lack of story lines in ECW. So, here’s a interactive poll for you readers. Send me your failed gimmick of the week, and I will post a few of the responses in next week’s column. You can send your choice to [email protected]

Thanks, and have a good night of wrestling…
