
Some
useful Tips
Make sure you have the correct strength selection.. It is worth taking the
time at the early stages to select a reed which gives absolute comfort.
Dont's
Do not set the reed too deep in the chanter seat, as this can cause the F
note to break up. Do not move the balance bridle too far up the blades as
this will cause the top G note to "switch" into a higher octave.
Do not twist the reed into the chanter while holding it by the blades.
Do's
A build up of deposits in the chanter throat will cause the reed to malfunction
on some notes, particularly D, C, and Low G.
