My Glock Pistol
The newest caliber to be added to the Glock line is the 357 SIG(Auto) in the G31.
The design of the 357 SIG was a result of a joint collaboration between Federal
Arms Corp. and SIG-Saur. It was the designers intent to develop an autopistol
cartridge with ballistic that meet or exceed the legendary .357 Magnum 125 grain
Jacked Hollow Point. It does this very well with bullets speeds
approaching 1500 feet per second.
The 357 SIG cartridge is a bit different than other autopistol cartridges.
The classics such as the 9x19, .45 ACP are straight or slightly tapered whereas
the 357 SIG is a bottlenecked cartridge. This shape allowed designers
to keep the over-all length short enough to fit 9x19 size guns without
losing the much needed powder space.
Reloading this cartridge is best left to the advanced reloader!
An added benefit of the bottleneck is reliability. With a 9mm bullet being
stuffed into a 10mm hole, there is little chance of feed ramp hang-ups.
With about 10,000 rounds fired through my personal G31, there has
only been two malfunctions. Both were within three rounds of each other
and fired by a shooter who can jam a BB in a 55 gallon drum.
THANKS BILL!!!
Among the most powerful pistol cartridge, the 357 SIG is also one of the
most accurate. It's high velocity ensures a flat trajectory. I used my stock,
fixed-sighted G31 for PPC 600 during the 2000 season and averaged
540x20 of 600x60. A pleasing for my first competition experience.
