A Growing
List of Neat Places That I Like
Amber Lotus *UPDATE: 12/30/99* new company, same address --- formerly Paper Peddler (the person who ran it has retired and sold his business to Blue Star)where you can still get stuff by the late great Sulamith Wulfing. *UPDATE: 1/16/2004 * Blue Star has become part of Amber Lotus. I've updated the link
Jay's ORIGINAL Backgrounds!!!! ultra-nifty backgrounds and lots of them. I got most of mine from there. ****UPDATE**** Sadly, it seems this site is no more. I'm just as glad that I grabbed so many of his background tiles before the site disappeared. I've deleted the link.
Kemosabe's Font Source --- as they say: more fonts than you can shake a stick at! **** Update 11/11/98: This site has moved! Same look, new address. I've updated the link to their site. **** 12/25/00: UPDATE: This site seems to have died and disappeared. If anyone knows where they are now, let me know --- I hate it when a good font site dies. I've deleted the link for this site.
Fantasy Art of Elfwood Formerly Lothlorien, they now have their own domain and added lots more artists. Either have a sandwich or a great big stack of 'em when looking through this site because it's HUGE and at least 95% of it is very good (the remaining 5% is still good, just not as good as the rest. You be the judge).
BoingDragon This is where I got my counters (if you didn't notice that already). This guy has several nifty counters. He has a suggestion/wish list available for new counters if you want something special.
Lee Seed This is another artist that I like very much --- her advantage over Sulamith Wulfing is that Lee Seed is very much alive and well and still producing lovely artwork. The overhaul of her site is now complete, with a bunch of new artwork that is available for you, the discriminating viewer, to buy. I've already ordered a stack of stuff and I'm getting even more now that the new stuff is up. *UPDATE* This site has moved and is now called Poppyseed Graphics. I've already put in the new link here.
Ruth Thompson Tarnished Images For those of you who like Ruth Thompson's artwork and have been wondering where she disappeared to --- her website is up and running (finally!), showing all the neat stuff she does, where'll she be appearing, and selling her artwork.
Spanish Castle Graphics The site of Barry Munden and all the artwork he's produced. He doesn't seem to update his stuff very often --- I like what he does and I'd like to see more of it. Like the other artists I've listed here, he does a lot of fantasy- & SF-oriented stuff --- in this case, it has an anime-ish feel. *This site has been updated: it uses a lot of FLASH and no longer has the images of older work (which are only available on a CD now). It has some interesting animation stuff utilizing FLASH, but it's so-o-o-o slo-o-o-ow in loading.* New: He's updated his site --- I haven't been there in a while --- and now shows some of the old stuff (illustration) and some of the FLASH stuff. The new look is kinda neat.
The Art of Jeffery Bedrick This is a new site of Jeffery Bedrick's work. Many, many pictures (more than you've probably seen of his stuff in one place), broken up into five or six categories. I like his stuff, so I've very happy that he now has a site of his own.
The Ultimate Guide to SF/ Fantasy/ Space and Surreal Art on the Net This is a fun site: it has literally hundreds of artists, studios, and galleries listed, spanning all the genres you can think of and even ones you hadn't thought of before or realized existed. Utilizes frames, which is sometimes a drawback if you want to bookmark a particular site. *I've just been listed on his site.*
The Chronicles of Erdor The pages of a strange guy who goes by the name of Baron Samedi. He created this RPG and these are the pages that describe it.
Chad Childers Okay, his site is just a lot of blathering about himself and his friends in Michigan, but I like him and he's my friend. You'll have seen his picture on this site. I haven't seen him in years (literally) and occasionally scare him by sending him e-mail --- he finds it scary only in that I actually do remember him and send him proof that I haven't yet completely fallen off the face of the earth.
Grieg Pedersen The website for Pedersen Digital. Grieg has achieved his goal of founding and running a business in photo restoration, conservation, enhancement. It's a joint venture with his wife. Last I checked he was still happily married to Nancy, he had learned how to fly a plane, and was planning to exploit this new skill in pursuit of photography, namely aerial photography. How that's going remains to be seen. *Last time I checked this site (which still has flaky links), it was being updated. His resume has a new format and he and his wife had a baby on the way (their first). I'll have to go back and see what else has happened in the meantime.*
Bibliofind: This was a great site for finding those old (or recent) books that just aren't in print anymore. I did, eventually, break down and actually bought some books from them, before they were absorbed into the Amazon.com collective.
Epilogue.Net BIG website with lots of artists, organized into "galleries" of each artist's work with subcategories for genre and medium. Submissions are judged for quality before being allowed to be shown, so it's a mix of professional and high quality amateur art. I have some of my art there; the direct link is here. They're the organizers of the "New Masters of Fantasy" contest and publish a CD of the winners' art. I won a spot on the 2004 CD, which can be bought from here.
Frank's Planet Barb's On-Line TFOS Game. Come watch the madness and mayhem and extreme silliness --- or join in and journey into the heart of wacky fun. A good time will be had by all.
Here's a place where I've just set up a little corner of my own to sell a few different things with my art on it. Take a look and see if you'd like to have them.
