Aeyn (world) -- Aeyn, as the sphere has become known, lies somewhere
in the void of space. Little is known of this young planet, save of the
areas just around the Moonsea, just south of Aeyn's equatorial line.
Aeyn
(city) -- Aeyn in the principal port for all trade within the Moonsea.
Merchants from all lands, known and unknown, stop within its harbors.
It also holds the only university outside of Volyn, and it teaches all
heroic disciplines, not merely magic. Aeyn in the political, social,
economic, and cultural center of the area.

Aeyn
Aeynton -- The ancient name of Aeyn, dating from the time before the
Men and Elves reopened the Portal to Phyrra. Originally, Aeynton was only
an outpost scheduled to close when Illithriel's scoll deciphered. It became
the center of civilized defense during the Lunar wars and eventually the
center of civilization in the region. Over time, the suffix "-ton" was
dropped from the name.
Andara -- The first race to populate the Moonsea. They are all
gone now, but remnants of their time remain as objects of great beauty
and power.
Asharion Forest -- The Southern part of the Moonshadow, inhabited by
wood elves. The area is most hostile to travelers and is believed
to possibly be in rebellion against the lunar crown.
Blackcloak, Halaster -- The Archmage of Volyn, present at the opening of the Portal. Blackcloak's direct contact with the innate evil of Phryya warped his mind. He created a vast system of tunnels beneath Castle Aeyn, some were explored before the astle was sealed off outside of this world. Rumours abound about Halaster's tunnels. Some say his tunnels connect to the surface, and the Castle's exits and entrances remain partially accessible because of this. If true, Phyrra would still be a great threat to the stability of the Moonsea. Some also claim Halaster lives on in his tunnells, ancient and mad...
Castle Aeyn -- The geographic center of the city of Aeyn. The castle is uninhabited by the residents of the city, and is the source of a powerful and evil magic. As such, all of its interior portions have been phased to another less accessible plane by powerful magics.
Daclinian Peace -- Occurring some 300 years ago, the Daclinian Peace
remembers the unification of the nobles of Baklava under the rule of the
Daclinian line, which still holds the throne.
Dry Desert -- To the people of the Moonsea, the Dry Desert is more than just the inhospitable desert to the south of them. It represents the end of civilization and the beginning of the foreign wastelands beyond. Little is known of the lands south of the Desert, but amazing and wondrous items occasionally find their way north on occasional trade caravans which might indicate the lands to the south are more than just more desert.
Elves -- The second people, they are the oldest living race currently residing in the Moonsea area, except the legendary dragons that is.
First, the -- See Andara
Fistan -- A noble prince of the Daclinian line who united the warring
nobles of Baklava under the flag of his southern fief. The united
clans together held Southkeep, located in the Horncrag Mountains, against
the Danus, a marauding tribe of desert orcs. The defeat of the Danus
ushered in an easier time and marks the beginning of the Daclinian Peace.
Fistan's Pass -- After the defeat of the Danus, the sole pass throught
the Horncrags, which Southkeep guards, came to be called Fistan's pass.
Free Plains -- This region of rolling plains is located just east of the Moonsea and nestled just to the West of the majestic Amerisan mountains. Farming in the region produces an unequaled yield, but the regions population consists of warlike nomadic tribes made up of elves, humans, and half-elves.
Gladior -- The archmage of Aeyn. Very little is known about Gladior.
Rumors claim the mage came to the city long ago, on a boat drawn by white
dragons. Other sources will claim he hails from the east, far beyond the
Amerisan mountains where the barbarians and the cat-men that were driven
from the Moonsea long ago now lie. Whatever the truth, Gladior is now a
permanent resident of Aeyn. The eccentric wizard's famous shapeshifting
magical tower lies less than a quarter mile's walk from the harbor of Aeyn.
The tower, which polymorphs at mage's will, has been seen as a column of
light, a gigantic tree (its most usual form), and every century or so,
when Gladiator wants to play a joke on the good people of the Free City,
invisible. Gladior is a mage of great power, and a leading force for good
in the world. The mage serves as an informal advisor-member to the diet
of lords that rules the city.
Gwfelf -- Legendary bard amonst the barbarian tribes of the Free Plains. According to legend, Gwfelf, a half-elf, fled from Aeyn when Lord Senari announced the first assault on Castle Aeyn. Fearing he would be drafted, the bard ran east along the southern coast of the Moonsea until he reached the Free Plains. Once there, he settled in Freehaven, a known place of solace for criminals and refugees such as he. Then, the Tribe of the Dancing Feather attacked the town, burning it to the ground and killing all who rose to defend their home. Fortunately for Gwfelf, the barbarians' reverence for music nearly approaches worship and he was spared but forced into servitude to the tribe. He eventually befriended Reghed, the chief's son and later married Shou-Rez, Reghed's sister. These events took place about the time King Fistan III of Bakláva launched the first and mightest invasion to empty the Free Plains and provide his kingdom with better access to the sea. The goddess Melodie appeared in Gwfelf's dreams that night and told him of the coming onslaught. She instructed her disciple to unite the tribes of the Free Plains under the leadership of the Tribe of the Dancing Feather. When Gwfelf relayed his goddess's instructions to Reghed, then chief, the warrior enlisted the aid of the neighboring Tribe of the Eagle and pursued bloody conquest. In three short months, the Reghed and Gwfelf united the tribes for the first time in history. Within the week King Fistian's army marched northward towards Reghed's realm. The two sides fought for five days and five nights with neither side gaining the advantge, only losing ever more troops. During the morning of the sixth day, Shou-Rez died when struck through the heart with an arrow. When Gwfelf discovered, his vision dimmed with rage. He fought his way to the Baklávans' command tents and there slew King Fistian himself before six arrows killed him. The Baklávan army retreated to Cayenne in bitter frustration. The remaining barbarians declared Reghed Chief of Chiefs and he was called Reghed the Great from that day forward. He ordered a magnificent obelisk built to house the bodies of Gwfelf and Shou-Rez. After Reghed the Great's death, the barbarian alliance crumbled. The location of the obelisk was lost, but the barbarians believe the next Chief of Chiefs will discover the tomb and return with the blessings of Gwfelf.
High Andarian Tounge -- the tounge of the highest classes of the Andarians,
spoken at the the Andarian court. Not all Andarians spoke High Andarian,
in fact, the lower castes were completely uneducated in its properties
both linguistic and otherworldly.
Hislorken
-- Younger brother of Karmine-Alusan. He plotted to take his brother's
power and was cast out of the kingdoms above. Henceforth, he has
become the god of those who thrive by night--thieves and other criminals.
Horncrags -- Mountain range on the northeast border of the Dry Desert. The range forms an impassible barrier between the Moonsea and Segorah to the south and is scalable only via Fistan's pass, heavily guarded.
Illithriel -- Elven wizard who discovered the prophecy that created the Moongate and allowed the invasion of the Phyrrans, concluding the peace between Waxholm and Moonshadow.
J
Karmine-Alusan
-- high god of the pantheon. Karmine-Alusan represents all that is
light and true in the world. He is usually symbolized as the sun.
Kelcasten, Baron Johann -- Powerful and mysterious trade lord who lives in the rolling plains south of the city of Aeyn. A collector of antiquities and a great mage whose power and respect is surpassed only by that of Gladior.
Lunar Wars -- After the opening of the Moongate, the Phyrran demons
staged a massive attack on Aeyn through the Moongate's tunnel. The
demons were contained within Castle Aeyn but never driven away. Instead
the entire inside of the castle was phased out of existence, but remains
on another plane. The Moongate remains open and so the insides of
the world's once mightiest fortress stand as a testament to magical experimentation
gone bad.
Lunaria -- Aeyn's second moon. From scraps of Andaran writings, it is believed to be inhabited. Little is known about the Lunarians. Whether they remain on Aeyn's blue moon is questionable. Whether they are any better than their Phyrran neighbors is just as questionable.
Men -- The Third and final race. Men are now the most prevalent
of the races on Aeyn.
Moondaughter -- The ruler of the Elven Queendom of Moonshadow.
An elven princess must ascend the Moontower soon after the death of the
former Moondaughter to receive the mantle of the nation. Without
a proper heir to the magic, the elven nation is prophecied only destruction.
The current Moondaughter, Oleara Cylanth, is aging. However, she
has no known daughters and as such the Elven nation fears its carefully
erected defenses against the outside world will crumble.
Moonsea
-- Supposedly the region is named after the Moon Elves who settled on its
eastern peninsula and who claim to be descended from the moons themselves.
Moonshadow -- the principal Elven nation within the Moonsea area.
Moontower -- The magical tower where the transfer of the magic of the Moondaughter's location is known only to Moonshadow's Lord of the Waves, the naval leader of the Elven armada. It is said the tower rises directly out of the Moonsea, somewhere in the southeastern quarter of the Moonsea. A new Moondaughter must sail with the Lord of the Waves alone to the tower and swim into its base. Nothing is known of what lies within the tower, and the Moondaughters are not telling.
N
O
Phyrra -- Aeyn's red moon. The Moongate connects to this moon
and it is from there that the Lunar Wars were staged. The portal
is still open and if Castle Aeyn where ever to be phased into existence
again, would be a perfect staging point for an invasion.
Portal -- The more common name for the Moongate. Most people known only that great evil lies beyond the walls of Castle Aeyn on the other side of the Portal, but the true nature of the gate to Phyrra is known only by the wise.

U
Vesterpelt, Fatima -- Senari woman credited with the creation of the
current calendar.
Volyn -- Capitol of Waxholm and home to the Moonsea's college of wizardry.
Waxholm -- Aside from Moonshadow, Waxholm is the oldest nation in the Moonsea area, occupying the western peninsula of the crescent shaped landmass. Waxholm, normally a leading nation, is currently locked in a civil Cold War, between the leaders of the orders of wizardry that rule the country. Until a leader arises from their internal dispute, the wizard's council is paralyzed.
