The Syreen are a space faring people... and have been so for longer
than most cultures have a recorded history. They are originally
from a planet called Syra... a beautiful place, in a binary star
system. Because of the binary star... and the fact that the light
was heavier in UV rays... the Syreen people have a much stronger
blue undertone to their skin. This is most evident in the people
from the northern continent... their lighter toned skin and hair
makes them appear the most blue.
The Syreen are a gailanic society... which means they treat everyone
equally. Also, because of this idea they were at peace on Syra
from their stone age until the planet was destryoed, by still
unknown factors (although many conspiracy theorists blame "The
Continum"). In fact because of their unique physiques no
Syreen can be classified as a certain sex. The Syreen have their
sexual markers in their genetic make up, so there is no clear
delineation of sexes. Because of this the society is an age based
one; The older you are, the more respect and power it is possible
for you to have. The Syreen are ruled by a council of Thirteen
elders. This council has the last say so on most matters.
Also the Syreen are rather omnipotent. While they can not quite
rival "The Continum" in ability they are powerful.
That is why when Syra was in danger of being destroyed, they knew
about it for over a thousand years before it would happen. They
set out to save those they determined would keep the culture alive.
Such people like talented users of the natural abilities, those
that had the most unique sexual set-ups (the XXX and YYY people),
and any of those people who would someday be important to other
cultures. When the mothership was finally finished, just a mere
ten years before the great cataclysm, the boarding began.
Among the people saved was a family of six children... this family
was young, the oldest only a millennium old at the time. While
the children had not shown themselves through any great feat...
they were the future of the people. Through many adventures and
years the Syreen mothership found itself in a new solar system.
One with a single yellow sun, nine planets, and only two able
to support life. They decided to colonize both... but they found
they could not materialize on either planet... and only one had
any sort of native sentient life... this was the planet called
Terra. Through trial and error they found they could be born
as Terrans... but that they had to repress their memories and
could only remember their former lives as Syreen when they visited
other planes of existence.
