Azal 'Lan
In his youth, Azal 'Lan always felt his need to learn magic. Much to his fathers dismay, he learned, and learned, until caught by his father. With his fathers confrontation about the magic, he succumbed to the questions, admitting that he had learned magic. His father exiled the wizard that taught him what he had learned.
Upon learning if the exile, Azal 'Lan packed his few belongings, taking his mothers will to him, and two horses, left his fathers estate and the land he knew as home in search of the exiled wizard. Leaving behind his legacy for the magical learning's.
The wizard was not sure, that to take the boy in, would not mean his father wouldn't hunt them down and kill the wizard. So, with the assurances that Azal 'Lan had left his father with his knowledge, and there would be no pursuit of either of them, the wizard reluctantly took him in, teaching him all that he knew. Azal 'Lan was a natural learner, and the lessons came easy for him. After some twenty years of learning, his mentor let Azal 'Lan out on his own, keeping a loose leash on him, to work his magic with the warring factions of the areas.
Azal 'Lan had no real problems controlling the magic needed to hide attacking forces from would be bandits or raiding parties upon the caravans that traveled the realm. He encountered lesser wizards that he overcame with relative ease, enjoying his duties more than he should have.
Upon learning of this fathers demise, he advanced his learning more and more, knowing his brother had taken over the duties of running the realm which his father had controlled for so many years.
His studies went well, he learned more and more, experimenting with the spells, changing components, changing the words, Until he had surpassed the wizard who had taught him.
Having done this well, the wizard released Azal 'Lan from his apprenticeship and set him off on his own, to grow, and learn.
He has traveled the realms, selling his abilities to the highest bidder, keeping in mind the teachings of his mentor, always trying to use his powers to help the good side of justice.
You will see him now traveling throughout the realms of Calidair, where his abilities are somewhat needed. When you see him, have a kind word of greeting, and the news of the fight against the vermin that plague the countryside, as he has devoted his being to rid these vermin and return the realm to the peaceful existence that once was.
