I've been using Orcs and Goblins in Warhammer since version II of the rules (We're currently on
version V). Since then many things have changed but most of the basic priciples have stayed the
same.
Main Points:
- Big Units
- Keep Advancing
- Goblin Fanatics
Big Units
Always try and outnumber your enemy. Keep your units large and the frontage narrow, this allows
you to still get a very good rank bonus despite your opponents attempts to slim down your ranks
with missile fire. The troops are very cheap so always include a standard and musician if you
have the models.
Keep Advancing
If you stand and wait for your enemy then animosity will rip your army apart, also your missile
troops aren't wonderful and don't have a very good range. For every army except skaven you
should try and close as soon as possible.
Goblin Fanatics
Goblin fanatics are the game's best defence against a cavalry charge. They are a risky option as
they can backfire but I always take as many as I can afford in a game, fear of the fanatics alone
can be a very powerful weapon. When using fanatics remember to watch out for scenery and items
like steam tanks and wights.
Other Stuff
Other highly recommended options are Boar Boys, Chariots, Boar Boys and Chariots together and
Rock Lobbers. Chariots work best in pairs or paired with a cavalry unit - very little survives
the initial charge if you get it right.
To give myself a fighting chance I won't reveal any more. The green hoardes are comming!
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!
