Each Character must take the following two required Disadvantages: Players will be required to keep an Experience Record sheet, showing how much Experience they have accumulated and how much Free Time their character has used for the year out of the 20 Free Time allocated to each character. Experience
Record Sheets and Pre-Gen Cards (see below) will be provided to you at the convention
Duty (To Prince Claymore) -15 pts
Vow (To Fight Shadowfall) -5 pts
Experience awards:
Every
completed game earns a PC between 2 and 4 Experience (subject to GM discretion, length of adventure, etc.) and takes some amount of Free Time. Games may consume between 1 and 3 Free Time, dependent on the scenario. Usually,
games that take more Free Time have more rewards both in Experience and other rewards like Reputations, monetary gain or special items, but this isn't always the case. This element of the unknown is meant to simulate realism. The
PC never knows how rewarding an adventure will be until s/he goes on it! Also, it helps preserve overall Campaign balance in that the more die-hard players don't get so far ahead of the others in Experience that their abilities far outshine
the players who don't get to play as often.
What if I don't want to make my own character?
Pre-Generated characters will be provided, but these characters do not earn experience in the same way your own crafted characters do. When you earn experience while playing a Pre-Generated character, you
keep track of the amount of experience on a Pre-Gen Card, which can be used to add point value to any future Pre-Generated characters that you play, but after 20 Experience have been added this way, you stop accumulating Experience (this is to
prevent the nightmare of having to practically generate a new character whenever you sit down to play) It is recommended that you eventually make your own character, but it is by no means mandatory.
