DragonWorld Web Ring

This page will explain what the DragonWorld Web Ring is and how to add your web pages or site to the Ring.

In these days, it's rare that someone would NOT know what a Web Ring is. But for those rare few, here is a quick explaination. A web ring is little more than a list of sites with a related theme or purpose. In this case, the related theme is Dragon World BBS. Anyone who is, was, or wants to be a member of Dragon World BBS can join the DragonWorld Web Ring. When you are added to the Ring, your site will be assigned an ID number. Think of this as your location in the list of sites. If your page is ID# 10, then the next site will be ID#11 and the previous site has ID#9. The highest numbered site's NEXT site would go back around to ID#1.
(Actually thats exactly backwards I just found out. Next goes to the lower site and Previous goes to the higher site, but that doesn't matter now.

The concept here is simply that if anyone views a site on the DragonWorld Web Ring, they can easily go to other related sites simply by clicking on the WebRing graphic for the Next site. Or Previous site, or random site or whatever. It's not rocket science but it is a good way to keep in touch with other peoples sites.

Ok, now then... how to get your site added...

Adding your site is a simple 3-step process.

STEP #1 - Join the Webring

Get the following info ready:
Site Title: The name of your website
Site URL: The address of your website WITH the HTTP:// part.
Name: Your name
Email: Your Email address (You'll get a site ID# after you fill out the form.)
Password: Make up a password so you can edit your site info later if something changes.
Keywords: Words used to search and find your site.
Description: A short site description.

Click HERE and fill out the form!

After you fill out the form, you will get an ID number. You'll need that for Step 3. Your site is not yet part of the ring, however, as I will have to approve it first. Shouldn't take but a day at most.

STEP #2 - Choose which Graphic you want on your home page.

My obtrusive graphic shown here is one choice:
Prev5 Dragon World Webring Next5
Skip Prev Skip Next
Prev List Join Random Next

Or you can use Georgy's nifty minimalist method (Thanks Georgy! I lifted it from yer site without permission.)
It looks like this:
This DragonWorld Web Ring site owned by Blue Dragon.
[ Previous 5 Sites | Previous | Next | Next 5 Sites | Random Site | List Sites ]

If you're into HTML, you're more than welcome to come up with your own link format.

Step 3. - Add the graphic of your choosing to your site.

Note: I will probably not approve your site to the ring until you've added this!

Hopefully you know something about HTML if you have your own page! You will need to copy the following HTML code into your home page. This will insert the Webring graphic onto your page.

If you're fluent with HTML, you are more than welcome to modify the code as you see fit. Just make sure its there somewhere so visitors can jump to the next and previous sites easily. After you've done these steps, I'll approve your site to the ring and we'll all be happy!
Here's a form that will create the EXACT code for your web page. You fill in the blanks and you'll get code that's been customized Just For You! Why do I offer this service for FREE you might ask? Because I, Blue Dragon, am your FRIEND.

(And 'cuz I like doing JavaScript and HTML stuff)
By the way, this doesn't get sent anywhere. It just appears on your browser. Select it, copy it, and paste it into your web page.

Click on the style of webring graphic you want:
Obtrusive Style
Minimalist Style

What is the ID of your site in the ring? (You DID fill out the form already, right?!)
:ID Number

Georgy's style lists your name as a link to your email address. If using the Minimalist style, enter your name as you want it to appear here:
:Name

If using Georgy's Minimalist style, I need your email address here to link to.
:Email Address

Here's where the HTML code for the webring graphic shows up. You just need to select it and paste it into your home page now.
