Chapter 2

Gea hurried along the path running from the large men chasing behind her.
"Leave me alone what do you want!?" she shouted furiously.
The men had just about cornered her when a small bolt hit the nearest bully and his gang looked up at it's source. A tall woman sat upon the roof, with a stern look on her face. "If you want to pick on some one why don't you try me?" The figure said with a stern voice.
The gang leader just laughed and began to shout at the woman. "We don't want to hurt you young lady, but if we must..... Besides us Turks only get involved with what we are paid for. All we want is the girl." Sneered the gang leader.
The woman smiled in a mocking way and tossed back her head. "A Turk are you? Humph you idiots don't even deserve the honorable name of a Turk. Nowadays you are just sell-outs. They don't make 'em like they used to."
At this remark the leading "Turk" began to turn a nice shade of crimson red. He ignored the woman on the roof and snatched Gea by the arm and began to pull harshly. He was then hit with a rather large bolt of lightning and he stumbled backwards. He was so extremely shocked at the sight of a puny woman daring to challenge a Turk that he just decided to be stupid and underestimate her. Again he went to grab the girl, but stopped when a bright light flashed in front of him, and the woman from the roof jumped down revealing her weapon. The Turks were so shocked that they just froze.
"Your the one who.... who... got... um.." The leader stammered as he spoke, and began to cower.
Lacey stepped into the light and grinned. "Yup, I was the one who got Rufus. Surprised to see me are you? Now scram or I will have to get a little rough. Don't make me have to prove no point." Lacey sneered. Gea just stood there unable to run or even speak so she just stood and watched.
The leader shook his head. "We have to fight her, else we don't get paid. Boys, lets get her!" About 5 Turks surrounded Lacey. Lacey just grinned. Her old anticipation and excitement for battle came back and she stood happily to meet their weapons. First a spear was flung at her and she jumped. The spear took out the man behind her and making the man to his left stumble. After all of them had struck, Lacey got bored with the battle and brought out her Summon materia. The sunny sky turned a navy blue and Shiva emerged from the sky. Her blue hands tilted and ice shot out from her fingers. Shiva just smiled to Lacey and left leaving the Turks as frozen blocks of ice. The crowd of the town began to gather around the frozen mess and with them came soldiers.
Lacey ran over to where Gea stood, picked her up and ran until they found a small alley. Lacey slowed her pace and put the small girl down. Lacey bent down to the girls level so she would not be intimidated and smiled.
"Don't worry honey, I won't let anyone hurt you. Are you OK?"
The little girl nodded her head, and wiped the tears of fear from her eyes. Lacey brushed a small hair from the girls face and said. "I'm glad you are okay. Hi my name is Saber Wolf but you could call me Saber. What is yours?"
Lacey figured she had better not tell the girl her name, because if anyone found out who she was.....she would be in a dreadful spot. So she used her pack name.
Gea thought that she could trust this lady, she had just saved her life after all so she decided to be welcoming. "Hello Saber, my name is Gea, thank you a lot."
Lacey smiled. "Why were those men after you Gea?"
Gea blushed and bowed her head to hide her face. "I'm not sure, I think they are after my mother because she is an arch....archeologist. And, um, they might want some of her artifacts for money."
Lacey nodded. But she did not believe Gea, Rufus would not hire the Turks just to gain some money. Maybe he is after an artifact that could give him power, she would have to stay near this girl, and meet her mother. Lacey decided to leave it at that though, because she did not want to scare the girl away.
Gea looked at Saber and noticed a small crystal hanging around Saber's neck. "Where'd you get that it's pretty."
Lacey looked down and then looked back at the girl. "It's something that my mother gave me when I was little. There is supposed to be another like it, except it is red."
Gea had a small look of shock on her face. "My mummy has one just like that except it is red indeed, she says she had hers since she was little too. Do you want to come over for dinner and see it.?"
Lacey tried to hide her excitement and just nodded. Gea took Lacey's hand and led the way as quick as a 7 yr. old could.
