Me & Art...

I always liked drawing and sketching since I remember.
After I got interested in the field, Art itself became also an interest for me (that is, plastic or visual art).

The way I see it, good art is usually:

1. Creative and Original, in a way that makes the viewer ponder about the artwork.
2. Relates somehow to other ideas, theories, events or other artworks from all kinds.
3. Has a certain visual quality that is balanced or im-balanced in an interesting way. In other words, "something that catch your eye".
4. Has a certain message, idea, emotion or thought to deliver to the viewers. This message shouldn't be too loud or too clear because then it's not quite art, but rather like a sign or a poster (not to be confused with the STRENGTH and INTENSITY of the message).
5. It can be none of the above, but still has a certain quality in it that makes the artwork not too simple but not too complex;

To get further to the point, a good artwork is one that makes the viewer connect in a deep level to the artwork. A good artwork gets the viewer not too involved in it, but not too ignorant from it. It's all a matter of a complex system of balance ( of composition, lighting, format, technique, date, style, colouring, subject, title, medium etc. ). That system can be also mastered through lack of balance.

I like surrealism, fantasy art, ancient Egyptian, Indo, Japanese & Chinese art and Renaissance (also Carravaggio) a lot.
I don't like art that has the taste of being too experimental. Some artists try way too hard to make art that will be "the art of the next millenium" or something like that, and often the only get to do something they themselves have no idea what it is.

The mediums (materials) I like to use are:
Pencil+Ink pen+Coloured Pencil OR
Ink Pen+Acrylics+Airbrushed Acrylics OR
Pencil+Oil Colours+Acrylics.

Usually paper is good, but canvas is also good. Wood is also very good and wood covered with plastic-like smooth white surface is simply the best surface :-).

Usually I paint when I want to relax myself, or after seeing some really good paintings or maybe a cartoon movie.

When I paint I often try to make a great emphasis on the atmosphere of the place or the thing that I'm drawing. It may be hard to understand, but when you paint something, the sensitivity to colors and forms overtakes you and you begin to notice all the subtle and fine differences of colors and forms and that sometimes lead your painting.

Also, I'm interested in airbrushing, graphics and comics. To be honest, I think don't enjoy superheroes comics- I find them too childish or stupid. This medium can successfully be used as "graphic novels". day I'd like to write one... who knows how it'll turn out. I just need a good idea.
I own a Paasche VL double-action Airbrush, a good one. Airbrushing is not a cheap buissness, unfortunately. I use Winsor & Newton airbrush liquid acrylics colours.

Well enough about reading about it. Why won't you see it? Go to My Gallery.

By the way, If you are from Israel and you'd like a painting or a mural (wall-painting) done for you, write me at

If you are also an artist or find interest in this field... feel free to contact me as well.
