Dreams

and other adventures of the mind

Hey...
Dreams is
another very interesting topic.
I always liked dreams because they can, sometimes, be better then
the best movies ever made. They can inspire, frighten and confuse,
sometimes all at the same time.
Anyway, I want to introduce to you a topic you probably haven't
heard of: Lucid Dreaming.
A "Lucid" dream is a certain kind or type of a dream: It's a dream where you, the dreamer, REALIZE (within the dream itself) that you are currently dreaming. Unlike usual, normal dreams, in lucid dreams you are in complete awareness of who you are AND aware to your current state - you are dreaming.
So, what's
the big deal?
In a lucid dream, you have complete unlimited control over your
reality and yourself. The dream reality is much more flexible,
much more "mixable" and works through thoughts rather
then through actions; To get from one place to another you need
only to *think* or visualize it, for example.
Lucid dreaming had been proven scientifically (go to the lucidity intitute through the links section to read how), yet many claim that lucid dreaming is actually entering the higher or 'Astral' dimensions through gaining consciousness, thus control, over your dreams. I tend to agree, for it sure seems some other dimension with rules and principles of it own...
Lucid dreaming can be learnt; Some have this ability naturally. Some have, and lose it. Some don't, like me, and simply learn it from articles posted on the net. The secret is: Condition yourself to remember and then KNOW your dreams, then condition yourself to always identify them.
Lucid dreaming can be basically achieved when you are ready to experience them: conditioning yourself properly and sleeping well, without being nervous or tense, help greatly.
Lucid dreaming, for me at least, is a fantastic experince. The ""high"" feeling you get from such a natural state of mind is fantastic. You travel through worlds you create, just for fun. But it's not easy to achieve a lucid dream. Only a strong will power, the right conditions and a little bit of luck allow it.
Astral projection is basically inducing a lucid dream without sleeping. Through special meditation-concentration excercises, people claim to achieve experinced similar to lucid dreams. I had one or two very short Astral Projections.
OBEs or OOBEs - Out-of-the-body experiences - Are similar to Astral Projections, only they occure in the physical dimension: In other words, people see their physical body sleeping from above. I personally have never experienced this kind of experience.
Anyway, To sumarize... Lucid dreams are a very unique, special and exciting experince anyone can go through for free, with a little effort. To find more about the subject, check out my Links section.
