Merlin's World

Lady of the Lake.
Also called: Nimue by Malory, and referred to as Vivian or Vivienne.

She was the keeper of Excalibur the Sword of Power. Merlin was infatuated by her. He taugh he his magical secrets, and such she used these secrets to imprison Merlin in a cave or an oak tree. It it told that the spell that holds Merlin can be broken only when Arthur once again Rules.

It is believed the Sir Balin killed the Lady of the Lake by beheaded her. He recongnized her as the fairy who had killed his mother. Arthur had promised her the head of Sir Balin when she gave him Excalibur. Arthur banished Sir Balin, but he succeeded in capturing one of Arthur's enemies and was thus made a Kinght of the Round Table.

There is not much written on the Lady of the Lake. I am still searching the libraries for more information. As soon as I find more, I will surely add it.
