1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2: The same was in the beginning with God.

Now read from the official SDA Church position regarding Christ as Michael the Archangel:

"CHRIST IS CALLED THE WORD OF GOD. JOHN 1:1-3. HE IS SO CALLED BECAUSE GOD GAVE HIS REVELATIONS TO MAN IN ALL AGES THROUGH CHRIST. IT WAS HIS SPIRIT THAT INSPIRED THE PROPHETS. 1 PETER 1:10, 11. HE WAS REVEALED TO THEM AS THE ANGEL OF JEHOVAH, THE CAPTAIN OF THE LORD'S HOST, MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL". (Ellen Gould White, Patriarchs and Prophets, page 761)

***"The monarch had resisted the impressions of the Spirit of God during the three weeks while Daniel was fasting and praying, but heaven's Prince, the Archangel, Michael, was sent to turn the heart of the stubborn king to take some decided action to answer the prayer of Daniel". (Ellen Gould White, Reflecting Christ, page 90)


The old system of Adventism claimed that Jesus was Michael the Archangel, and today, Adventism has tried to down-play this very gross error, but the statements remain because they were made by the Church's messenger/prophet of God, Ellen Gould White. 

***Notice the second quote from Ellen Gould White shows us a picture of an Angel doing something God was unable to do.  Can you think of another instance in the first book of the Bible, where a fallen Angel thought he could do more than God?  satan claimed to know better than God, what should take place.  Ellen Gould White has us looking for this same spirit, and directs us toward that spirit many thousands of times in her writings.  Ellen Gould White is credited to have written 25 million words in her lifetime as a prophet or messenger of God.
