At 3 AM on Christmas morning, everyone should be snuggled deep in their beds dreaming of the presents under the tree from Santa. But Christmas morning of 1985 was completely different for us. I was only 13 and when the sounds of someone rapping on my window awoke me I was scarred. I went to the window and a woman in a white dress was standing there urging me to open the window, which I did. She told me, just before my parents went to bed about 1:30 AM, my dad's cigarette had fallen into the couch and I had to wake my parents before the flames got out of hand. Still half asleep, I started to run downstairs to check it out, but I could already smell smoke and could see the flicker of the flames. I woke my parents and siblings up and we all made it out in time. After the fire was out and everything had calmed down, everyone wondered what had woke me up and I told them about the lady standing outside my window. That was when we realized my bedroom was on the second floor and no one could have been standing outside the window. My guardian Angel had saved my families life.
