Christmas season

NRPG : A short one on zulu's dear enemy, the crosses. sometimes, the bad people deserved to have a normal happy day, esp around xmas!

RPG :

Rebecca Ericsson Cross, wife to Thaddeus Cross IV, was immuned to the terrible weather. She was dressed in a blue sundress and flat shoes, seated comfortably at the back of the air-conditioned Merz, a smile on her lips. Argentina was not her favourite country, but she loved the people here, the friendliness of the common folks who did not recognise her, and the way those who recognised her worshipped her just because her father-in-law owned Cross Inc, the parent company of several cross-continental companies such as CrossTech, Cross Systems, and Cross-Ericsson Multimedia.

The Merz stopped in front of a marble polished new building, and Rebecca stepped out, leaving the folio she had held in her hands on the seat.

"Wait for me," she instructed the driver, before she slammed the door shut and made her way into the premises of the headquarters of Cross Systems in South America.

"Mrs Cross," the few staff that saw her greeted her. She nodded to acknowledged their greeting, and walked onto the private lift lobby without going through the compulsory security check. A card pushed into a slot beside the single lift activated the private lift, and it opened for her.

"Welcome to Cross Systems, Mrs Cross." A female voice said.

Rebecca entered the lift.

"Top floor," she instructed the buttonless lift, and 10 seconds later, the lift door opened to show the red carpetted office of Ted Cross.

"Mrs Cross!" Ted's secretary looked up in surprise.

"Is my husband busy right now?"

"He just finished a meeting, and had just returned to his office for a brief rest. Should I announce you?"

"There's no need. I shall go in myself," Rebecca said as she turned left and left the reception area.

Without bothering to knock, she turned the door knob of Ted's office and it swung in to show a tired man resting on his seat, his tie loosened, his legs on the oak table.

"Beck!" Ted exclaimed as he saw his wife at the door, quickly remove his legs from the table, and walked towards her, receving a hug and a kiss in return.

"What a surprise. What brings you here?" He asked as they sat on a the sofa at the corner of his office.

"How's your day?" She asked, as she looked at him, her husband. My younger, and smart husband, she reminded herself.

"Not bad. Just finished a 5-hour meeting, but then I think everything is on schedule, which is great."

"You'll do fine, Ted. Don't worry."

"Well, no matter what, the stress to perform well is still there. " He added. "So what brings you here?"

Rebecca smiled.

"Ted, I just went to see the doctor. I'm pregnant."

"You're what?" He shouted, his eyes wide with surprise. "Is that true? It actually work? Oh my god! Its a miracle!" He hugged his wife, then jumped up and did a short dance.

Rebecca waited till he stopped before she added.

"The doctors think that its a miracle too."

"Oh my goodness, Beck. I tell you what, you must stop your work at Cross-Ericsson, and rest at home. Total rest."

"Oh Ted, don't be ridiculous. I will get bored if I just stay at home. Don't worry, I know to take care of myself."

"Have you told Dad and Mom yet?"

"Not yet. I thought you deserved to be the first one to know."

"Of course I do! This is the greatest Christmas present I can ever get"

Just then, Ted's secretary popped her head in, and announced that his next meeting will begin in 5 minutes' time.

"Gota go, Beck. I try to come back tonight as early as possible, and we are going to have a real big celebration."

They kissed goodbye, and Rebecca left where she came from.

Back in the car, she instructed the driver to drive to her home, and as the car made its way along the streets, she removed the contents from the folio. It contains some new information that somebody had collected on her behalf. Her 'special' job.

She looked at the short memo in front of her.

'1) A new agent had joined the group. By the name of Martin Reed. See Appendix A for bio.' '2) Ms Vanessa Lee had recently started seeing a man by the name of Christopher Starling. See Appendix B for details and C for bio.'

Starling, that name sounded familiar.

She started reading Appendix C, and a smile reached her lips.

Starling, of course. She had met Ellen Starling, Chris' mother last Christmas at the Christmas dinner of CrossTech. Ellen was then, and still, the legal consultant of Cross Information, a throughly respectable subsidary of Cross Inc which was among the top 5 Internet Service Providers of US.

"Well, well, well. What a coincidence," Rebecca spoke to no one in particular.

regards,
Lee Sau Woon aka SA2 Vanessa Lee
