Mission2

The ties that bind people together....

Location : Streets of Boston
MD : Day 1, 10:45 pm

As Zenya maneuvered the Taurus through the streets of Boston, Leo saw that she seemed to have a lot on her mind. Although her driving didn't show it, a storm of memories and thoughts were flying through her mind, yet her attention was incredibly focused on the road.

"Wanna talk about it?" Leo asked from the passenger seat.

"About what?" Zenya asked, her guard up and defenses ready for what she knew would come.

"Whatever seems to be trying to preoccupy your mind ever since we left the motel." Leo answered, glancing back to see if the car he spotted minutes earlier was still tailing them.

"If you don't mind, I'd rather not." Zenya answered, perhaps a little colder than she really meant to.

Leo gave a chuckle. "Fine by me. Turn left at the next intersection."

When Zenya turned, the car following also turned. "A tail?" she queried.

"Yup. Perhaps we could use this to our advantage." Leo answered. "Turn into this motel parking lot and park there."

Zenya pulled into one of the empty stalls and turned off the engine. The other car also pulled into the parking lot and parked across the way from them. A moment later, the doors to the other car opened and two men stepped out and started walking across the lot to where they were parked.

"What now?" Zenya asked, watching the progress of the men coming toward them.

"Give me your gun." Leo said. "No questions."

Zenya took out her gun and handed it to Leo, who had taken his own gun out and readied it. "Stay here." Leo said.

Leo then stepped out of the car with both guns in his hand pointed at the two men who stopped in their tracks. They looked at each other, wondering what their next move should be.

"Don't even think about it. You'd be dead before your gun clears the holster." Leo told the obviously frustrated men. "Take out your guns and toss them over here. It better not go anywhere past me or I'll kill you just for ticking me off. I'm sure you've been briefed on my military experience. You know what I'm capable of."

Taking their guns out, the two looked at each other, still wondering if they could take Leo out before he shot them. Deciding that life was still preferable to having bullets rip through them, the tossed their guns by Leo. Zenya, who saw what had transpired, got out of the car and picked up the guns by Leo's feet and pointed it at the two.

"Miss Gorky, I presume." The taller of the two said. "We don't want to hurt anyone, all we want is the device. In exchange, we can give you the one thing that you've always wanted."

Zenya looked at the person speaking and retorted, "And what would that be?"

The shorter person simply replied, "Why, the person responsible for the deaths of your family. It was just one person, but then your partner there knows that."

"Of course, he might not remember what happened all those years ago. It was his first mission in Black Ops." The taller one said. "Don't worry, Ms. Gorky it wasn't ol' Deadeye Jones that killed them, although later in life he would be responsible for more kills than anyone else in the history of Black Ops."

Zenya turned to Leo with a questioning glance, her emotions starting to get the better of her. "My first mission with the team was to PROTECT the attache from assassins sent from Russia. We swept the grounds and checked the cars the night before the explosion. We still have no idea how or why the car exploded." Leo said, trying to remember back to that fateful day.

"Well, you obviously didn't do a good job since they got to the family." The smaller one sneered. "Ms Gorky even has the scar to prove it."

Zenya ran a finger on the scar on her neck. "You were there, Leo?"

"I was there." Leo said, his mind drifting back to the night before the event that changed both their lives forever. All of a sudden, his face turned to stone, his jaw set and his fingers putting slightly more pressure on the triggers of both guns. "Docker.... he checked the cars himself. He gave the all clear. He's the only one who went anywhere near the car that night."

The two men looked at Leo, knowing that they had just lost their bargaining chip with Zenya.

Leo turned to the two men, seeing the look on their faces confirmed what he thought. "Sorry guys, end of the road for you here. On your knees, hands behind your head."

As they both did what Leo said, the taller one snarled, "We will get the device. Our associates were told to do anything to get it, anything. That includes the use of deadly force."

Leo went up behind them and said, "Let them try." Then he knocked the both of them unconscious. After dragging their bodies to a bike rack and handcuffing them there, Leo and Zenya made their way back to the cars.

Leo told Zenya that he'd take their car and listen in on their walkie-talkie and follow her to the lodge. Before he was able to turn to get into the other car, Zenya grabbed his arm and asked, "Who's Docker?"

"A mutual enemy, I assure you." Leo said, "I need to check something on the Ops database. If you want, I'll show you the records we kept on that case, but only if you want to. If not, I need to make sure of something before I tell you about Docker."

Zenya nodded and got into the Taurus. Leo then turned and went into the car with the Washington DC plates and followed her up to the lodge without further incident.

[[NRPG: Sydnie : Sorry for dragging up Zenya's past in front of Leo, but I ran out of ideas on how to get to the cabin. :) After all, an uneventful ride is pretty boring. *TAG* Your turn.

All : Ugh, this cold is draining whatever creative energy I have. ]]
