[New York Subway Tunnels]
Leo and Zenya backtracked through the tunnel system as quickly as they could in order to meet Jordan and the rest of the group. Their footsteps were echoing through the near-still tunnels, occasionally being interrupted by a solitary dripping of water.
"So, what's with the 'Oh Great Hunter' bit?" Leo asked, giving Zenya a side- ways grin.
"Oh, come on, Leo. Tell me you didn't see that look of complete adoration and .... hmm... how should I put it? Zenya thought for a minute. "I guess you could call it love that Crystal was giving you."
"huh? really?" Leo said in complete surprise. "I hadn't noticed."
Zenya turned to look at Leo and shook her head as she laughed out loud.
It saw the two creatures making their way through the tunnel system. Hatred clouded its mind as it made itself ready for another attack. This prey would be just as easy as the last few were. It's heightened speed, strength, and senses would be no match for these food scraps that were walking through the tunnels. With a snarl, it was ready to make its attack when....
Leo stopped and pulled out his gun. Without hesitation, Zenya did the same and looked around.
"What is it?" she whispered, her eyes scanning the walls and ceiling of the tunnels around them.
"We're being watched." Leo whispered back, "from somewhere back there, in the shadows."
It got an uneasy feeling, the creatures had stopped and were now holding those noisemakers that some of the other creatures it killed carried. All it knew was that its mate needed food, for she became bloated in the past few weeks and wasn't able to hunt for some time. One of the creatures in front of him had the smell of a trained killer, a predator, much like it had to be. This meant that it would be a formidable foe and it had no time to for a challenge right now. Another smell came from behind him... another creature, wandering alone. It's mate will dine well tonight.....
The walk out of the tunnels proved to be uneventful. Although, Leo had this nagging feeling that they had been extremely lucky today. With Zenya driving, Leo wondered just how the creatures below saw them.
