Jordan drove the car out through the gate seperating Brookhaven from the rest of the world, and he turned it toward the highway. Instead of getting back on the highway, though, he continued straight over the busy road way and toward the town beyond.
After driving for a few miles, he turned into the parking lot of a grocery store and guided the Taurus into a parking space.
"So," Jordan said turning in his seat, "anyone else feel like we've just gotten a very smooth brush off?"
"We could get a search warrant and go back there," Martin suggested.
"I don't think so," Jordan said shaking his head, "We don't know what we're looking for. We have a vague hunch that something's rotten at Brookhaven."
"Even a friendly judge wouldn't issue a warrant based on what we've got," Vanessa agreed.
"So what do we do?" Martin asked. "That place looks a little too secure to try an unauthorized midnight visit."
"I was thinking of calling Dr. Goldman. He might be able to help us."
"How?" Vanessa asked, "From what you said he's been retired for years. Most likely everything has changed."
"Maybe," Jordan replied, "but I'm hoping he still knows the right questions to ask and the right people to ask them to. I have his phone number here somewhere.
Jordan felt around in his pocket and came out with two slips of paper, "Strange, what's this."
He unfolded and read what was written on it, then he handed it to Vanessa.
She read it and said, "A little midnight visit might be in order after all."
"Why?" Martin asked.
"It seems we've got a friend who wants us to meet him at the sought gate at 10 tonight," Jordan answered.
Vanessa handed Martin the note. He read it and said, "It could be some sort of trap."
"I don't think so," Jordan said shaking his head. "We currently know nothing, so there's no reason to eliminate us."

Thoughts? Opinions? I personally think a little breaking and entering could prove to be fun.
