Armory

Welcome, I am Thirteen, the Seraphim Foundation's head of security. Contained herein are details on the artillery employed by the S.T.A.R.S and their companions during their repeated confrontations with White Umbrealla's creations

Handguns and Small Arms :

  Berreta M9 :
Replacing the .45 M1911A1 semi-automatic pistol as the standard issue sidearm for the Marines, The Berreta M9 has become common with many military and law-enforcment organizations. Among these organizations is S.T.A.R.S, Special Tactics and Rescue Squad. The light, compact semi-automatic pistol has a staggered clip that carries 15 rounds. Standard rounds for the S.T.A.R.S Berretas were semi-jacketed, 9mm hollow-points.

Colt Python :The Colt Python is a monster of a weapon. Chambering six .357 Magnum rounds, few creatures, even White Umbrella's bio-weapons, could walk away from a meeting with it. Barry Burton, the S.T.A.R.S weapons expert, favored the Colt Python over the standard issue Barreta, and the heavy revolver served him well during the horror at the Spencer Estate.

Browning HP :The Browning HP was the original issue sidearm for Raccoon City police until the string of mysterious murders. After that, the weapon was replaced by another 9mm, the H and K VP70. The Browning HP chambered 9mm and had a 13 round capacity.

H and K VP70 :The Heckler and Koch VP70 became standard issue for the Raccoon City police, replacing the Browning HP, after the string of cannibal murders related to the destruction of the Spencer Estate. The weapon was chosen for it's light weight, durability, and superior capacity. The VP70's staggered clip carries 18 9mm rounds, as opposed to the Browning's 13 round capacity.

Desert Eagle .50AE :I must say that this ranks as my handgun of choice. The Desert Eagle .50 caliber Action Express, also called the .50 Magnum, was original an Isreali import, but recently the American Magnum Research has been producing them. As the largest caliber available in a personal firearm, the Desert Eagle .50 carries tremendous power, with, relatively, little weight and almost no recoil. The Desert Eagle is available with 6, 8, and 10 inch barrels, many of which are equipped with Mag-na-porting, which further reduces the recoil. The Desert Eagle's only real setback is it's 8 round capacity, far surpassed by other, lighter caliber handguns. Desert Eagles are also available chambered for .357 Magnum, .41AE, .41 Magnum, and .44 Magnum.

Colt S.A.A : The Colt Single Action Army is an old-fashioned .45 revolver. It is a single action revolver, meaning that the hammer has to be operated manually. These older revolvers have fallen out of use, and are primarily owned by collectors.

Ingram M-11 :The Ingram is, and has been, one of the best known sub-machine guns. Despite it's popularity, is has never received military use. The military has always opted to use chopped rifles like the M-4 carbine, and the H and K MP-5, as opposed to the pistol-sized Ingram. The Ingram M-11, also known as the MAC-11, after the making was taken over by the Military Armament Company, is a sub-machine gun chambered to fire .380 ACP. A variant, the M-11/9, is more popular, in that it chambers 9mm rounds instead. The Ingram has firing settings varying from three-round burst fire, to full automatic. It can lock 15 or 30 round clips, and burn through one in a matter of seconds. The Ingram M-11 can lay down some serious fire, and make a great many assailants distinctly unhappy.

Shotguns and Rifles :

Remington M870 :The Remington Model 870 is a fairly ordinary 12 guage shotgun. It has become common with small town police as a backup weapon. Normally woodgrained, and carrying only 4 shells, with another chambered, the M870 lacks the capacity and sinister appearance of military shotguns. However, it lacks none of the power. Few things can shrug off a blast from a 12 guage shotgun at close range. Of coarse, the further away a target is, the less effective shot rounds become. The Remington M870 is a common recreational and sport weapon, and can be found almost anywhere. The Raccoon City S.T.A.R.S were trained with the Remington M870, but didn't get to take any with them during their desperate battle in the Spencer Estate. Rather, they stumbled across one in the house, acting as the trigger to an insidious trap.

Remington M1100 :There is little difference between the Model 870 detailed above, and the Model 1100 shown here. Both are basic 12 guage shotguns with a 5 shell capacity.

M16A1 :The M16A1 received it's first field use during Vietnam, replacing the older American M14. Chambering a smaller .223, 5.56mm, round, as opposed to the M14's 7.62mm, the M16 was a much more effective spraying weapon. The M16 could lay down a much faster fire with the smaller round and different chamber style, than the older M14. During Vietnam, the M16 was commonly chambered with 'tumblers', rounds that were designed to spin end-over-end, rather than hold a narrow spiral. These rounds are deadly to living targets, and added to the M16's use as an anti-personal firearm. Having learned many valuable lesson from thir previous run ins with White Umbrella's creatures, the S.T.A.R.S carried a pair of these rifles with them when they made their run on Planet, the the specimen testing facility in Utah. They were very effective.

Other Weapons :

Combat Knife :What can I say, one would have to be a blithering idiot, brave beyond description, utterly desperate, or possess more talent than is good for them to go toe-to-toe with a White Umbrella creature with only 8 or 9 inches of steel between them. Enough said. Of coarse, a good sharp knife can be used for many things besides fighting.

M68 AP Grenade :Once again reflecting on past occurances, the S.T.A.R.S carried a good number of these baseball sized, anti-personal grenades with them on thier run into Planet. They too, proved most effective at, not only disposing of White Umbrella's abominations, but also at creating exits. The device pictured above is actually an M67, an older form of the M68AP grenade.

M-79 Grenade Launcher :Commonly called the 'Blooper Gun', the M-79 is a one shot grenade launcher capable of delivering a variety of projectiles at a good distance.

Flamethrower :This compact flamethrower proved to be most effective against many White Umbrella creatures, as well as inadvertantly mutated plants. This device featured a fuel chamber attached much like a magazine would be on a rifle, making it much easier to use than the older, heavier back mounted systems.

The Spark Shot :Effectively a jacked-up taser, the sparkshot would likely be more effective against creatures that felt pain and had the capability to respond to it.

Rocket Launcher :This I can agree with. Who couldn't love a cannon that size that hurls rocket propelled grenades? This is a Grade A Bang Bang.

Chain Gun :Once again I hail the choice of weaponry. This bad boy ranks right up there with the rocket launcher. The personal version of the Vulcans carried by fighter planes, the chain gun can lay down a few hundred rounds per second. I take my hat off to Mr. Gatling's memory.

I realize I am missing a few weapons, especially those custom and modified versions of certain weapons. I am also looking for real images of those weapons represented by illustrations. If anyone can provide information or images, I would be most appreciative. Any queastions, comments or corrections may be sent to the address below.
