Ido takes her home, names her Gally (Alita in American versions), and gives her a new body. Ido is amazed Gally's brain is still functioning, she may easily be hundreds of years old. Gally has no memory of her past, her mind is whiped clean.

Gally lives her life, joyous and innocent like a child, until one day she's told of a serial killer who hunted out girls like her. Gally becomes worried that Ido might be the killer, after all, where did he get all the parts for her body? She follows Ido out one night on his evening trip and watches in horrer as he lies in wait for a strange woman. She rushes out of hiding, determind to end Ido's mindless murder spree only to find the woman he waited for was the killer! Ido goes down in an attempt to save Gally, and in a miraclous turn of evens, Gally saves Ido instead. Deep in her brain, something awakens, allowing her to perform the Panzer Kunst, the most powerful of the various fighting techniques developed for humaniod cyborgs.

Gally is spurred by emotions she does not understand to register herself as a Hunter Warrior and join Ido on his nightly hunt of the dark alleyways of the Scrapyard. Gally's skills grow, leading her life in strange direction. She falls in love, gets her heart broken, and nearly dies for the people she loves. Gally's story is as interesting as it is long and if you haven't read her tale I seriously suggest you do.
