Introduction
What is a "Black Hole".
According to some, they do not exist, but to others, they are a reality. Supposedly, Black Holes are to have so much mass, nothing is able to escape it's gravitational pull. One theory on what a Black Hole is that when a star loses
all of it's fuel, and 'dies', it can not resist it's own gravitational pull and is transformed into a Black Hole. There are also theories on how big Black Hole's are. Since Black Holes are formed by fallen stars, we can assume
that these were massive stars. So therefore, the mass of a Black Hole would be about ten times the mass of our sun, or 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kilograms. Some astronomers expect that some galaxies have massive
Black Holes in their center, which have a mass of about 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kilograms. That sure is a lot of mass! A new shred of evidence of Black Hole's existance just came out recently
on the 10th day of September. The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) took a new picture of a "bare" Black Hole. This new picture gives more proof that Black Hole's exist. But what exactly are they? I do not think anyone really
knows. This picture recently released shows a Black Hole "pouring out light", according to Space Telescope Science Institute PRESS RELEASE NO.: STScI-PR97-28. When I first read this release, I instantly started to
wonder. What if this was a passageway between two points in the universe? Kind of a shortcut. Reports state that Black Holes' gravitational pull is stronger than light, meaning to escape it you would have to travel faster than
light. Well what if this is a clue that once you enter a Black Hole, you can get from one place to another in a shorter time than ever imagined? I could be way off here, but it is an idea. We have never actually been to a Black
Hole, and the newest one found by the Hubble is 300 light years away. That would take a while to get there if we wanted to. I'm sure everyone has theories to Black Holes, or others are just interested in what they are. Below, is
what I have collected on Black Holes. I hope this site can give you a better understanding of what they are.
